Perhaps that means the code wasn't as genuine as it first looked and Chris Last has actually been fired. I was beginning to get suspicious as I'd not seen any other staff codes cropping up through the week, you'd think there were enough Planet-X/On-One staff with STW accounts!

that was precisely my thought when it appeared, the "competition" story didnt ring true as it wasn't widely promoted, and where were all the competing staff codes? Whatever the truth P-X had plenty of time to pull it, or to cancel the orders on the basis the code was being abused. Instead theyve had a massive cashflow boost before Xmas.
I didn't use the Chris Last one I found UKSTAFFDLO20 which was Dave Loughran.

Took a a bit over an hour (15:45-17:00) for mine to update, I don't think the tracking works until it reaches the deopt, I guess they'll have been in the same van.
I got the email about the carbon forks this afternoon, i was completely 50/50 and undecided about my decision to go white so was quite happy to have On One make my mind up for me.
I can't wait to get out on it now. I want with the Vee8 tyres just because i wanted black but i'm expecting them to be utter carp. I've ordered some Schwalbe freeride tubes and will plan on drilling the rims in the future but i just can't bring myself to pend upwards of £100 on tyres just yet.
Are the Floaters for £30 worth a go for riding on muddy, wet root trails around Haldon and the Quantocks?
Otherwise it'll be Maxxis Mammoth, Specialised Ground Control or Surly Nate for big bucks when i can bring myself to get my wallet out again.
floaters are good in the leafy, rooty, saturated loam and clay on my trails
I tend to receive P-X kit before receiving the dispatch email, let alone any tracking bumph.
Floaters work really well on the beastly mud and oomska round Leicestershire. A bargain at £30 a pop, just a shame the orange ones cost more
Second what Rocketdog says only my trails are in`t Dales and no issues with the Floaters on limestone , mud , or rooty stuff

The floaters work out about a kilo heavier than the Vee8 that it'll be coming with. Maybe spending money to shed some weight helps justify the expense of the Surlys...
Box arrived upside down despite the big "this way up" arrows on each end and looked like it'd been dragged around bit so one of the grips was scuffed/worn down, but other than that it's here! Might E-mail O-O about the grips but it's the kinda thing that'd happen the first time it punctured anyway.
Do all fat bike tyres seem really loose on the rims? Took 3 attempts to get the tyre to inflate without poping off the rim? Looks alright now.
With 15psi in the tyres had a quick blast around the car park and despite it's looks it's not sluggish at all, dropped down to 9psi and it's not much slower but you can hear the tyres tearing into the gravel when it turns!
The bars are just mental and will get cut down to a more XC width.

but not really a prob as I snuck in a codeine frame with the 20% and I really want white to set off pink tyres.
@ThisisNotASpoon --- give it a few goes with the crazy wide bars before chopping, I was a a bit sceptical but they did seem to suit the playful nature of the bike.
(on the subject of crazy wide bars) I'm a reluctant convert, I still don't think they're as great as some folks think but today pissing around in the snow was the first time I've really felt like they were awesomely better than narrower bars... Such a difference in steering stability, I used to be all over the place climbing in snow.
Not that these are exclusively snow bikes obvz but maybe it's relevant. (does the same apply on sand? Always used to be bar-waggy for me but I've never ridden a fatty on sand)
I thought that, and I like wide bars, had 760mm bars since the nukeproof ones were first available, but these are 800mm? It's all woodsy singletrack round here, I reckon anything over about 720mm will snag too many trees.
They are 810mm bars, I cut mine down to 760mm

I'm a reluctant convert
I went from old skool 685 to 711 about 18 months ago and it was a significant improvement. I've found myself naturally riding right on the ends of the 711s, so Ive just fitted 750s and they feel better again. I'm average height (5'10) and sufficiently small build that I've just gone from 42 to 40cm on my road bike, so I can imagine bigger riders feeling quite comfortable on 750+.
I'll keep the wide bars un-cut then for future use in case I change my mind and just swap them for something more normal in the short term. I can see how the geometry would work well on the medium for someone <6ft with bars that wide it doesn't feel cramped, but as I was on the limit between med and large I think I'll get on better with normal bars on the longer frame.
Is there a definitive way of making the wheels tubeless and inflatable by trackpump?
Found a thread on MTBR from a guy who used some 5mm foam and gorilla tape, is that the best way?
How straightforeward is it? On the one hand I want to get out and ride it properly, on the other hand I'll drill the rims over christmas and if it's going to take hours to get it set up tubeless I'm not going to want to have to do it again in a few weeks.
Personally, with the on-one rims and Floater tyres I wouldn't even try.
The tyres are so baggy on the rims and so keen to slide down into the well that they need a tube to keep them in place.
Even run with a tube if you let the air out the tube they fall away from the rim. I did try and get them to run tubeless (couple of turns round with gorilla tape) but there was no way to get them to seat (subsequently had the same issue with a Surly Bud) on the rims. I looked at the foam etc options but in the end decided that the occasional puncture was the price I was prepared to to pay for not having a complete bodge of a tubeless set.

I've ordered some sheets of 1.5mm thick foam packageing material, and some 50mm wide gorilla tape (and some reflective orange tape for once the rims are drilled). Might give it a go anyway, nothing to lose. I was feeling confident untill it arrived and the Vee8 litterly fell of the rim!

I've been using those Schwalbe tubes for 6 months. Had one puncture riding past a freshly trimmed hawthorn hedge but they've been fine - even in a 4.8" Bud!
The standard tyres are as baggy as Sean Ryder's entire wardrobe. I'm running ghetto tubeless on my fatty using some split 24" tubes, a ratchet strap to help with seating, Stan's fluid & nowt else. It was a complete and utter PITA to get them to go up, but ditching the original tubes saved about 700g per wheel. I did try foam, but it seemed such a faff.
If they puncture when I'm out I'll just whack a tube in.
When the wife's not looking I plan to upgrade the wheels & tyres to make it suitable for a bluto.
I've just bought some of those Schwalbe tubes, but in 26"...

The on one tubes are impossibly heavy - just changing the tubes makes a big difference. I also put some Slime in mine. No idea if it's the slime or the thickness of the Floaters, but I've only had 2 punctures this year, riding in all conditions with lots of hawthorn, bramble and rose thorns.

Yes, I just got an email telling me they were building my bike today but just realised they have no wheels so will have to wait until Monday. I appreciate the great communication from them and accept that they may have been a bit overwhelmed with the orders from the discount code and the current 4 for 3 offer.
But I also don't really need the bike in any rush so maybe thats why i'm a bit more chilled about it.

Not watched the vid, but I would keep drilling speed high for a clean finish, and mark/indent the rim at the centre point of each hole. (I didn't do these and mine look a bit crap.
I'd also get funky with the cutter size, I cut 350gm off my 1200gm German rims using an envelope pushing 44mm cutter, and could have gone lighter with a better hole size (say 2 x 36) and pattern (but I like those kind of challenges)

Mine was updated up untill it got to the local depot, the driver just had a photocopied bit of paper for me to sign. The tracking didn't update to say it had been dispatched from the depot untill after I'd already got it.

Got over 1000 miles on my OO wheels tubelessed with Floaters no problems or punctures ( well one where I got tangled in some barbed wire in the Pyrenees)
I have a floater that wa used before for a bit say 250 km put ghetto tubeless went up best of my by now 15 tries with mixed tyres. That's not on the on one rims but a 47mm bonz one.

Are these the Robsson rims? If so could I see the 44mm holes? I'm planning on doing mine with a 30mm holesaw, and even that seems to be pretty big.

It's a bit marginal around the spoke holes, but I drilled mine offset/inline, to get it dishless, I think, it was 3 years ago and was drinking too much 8) .

Not had a problem with my qrs. if you do get some hopes, remember they're a funny size: iirc front is a standard 135 rear, rear is 170mm weirdness.
leeph - I picked mine up today from Planet X in Edinburgh. I got an email on Wednesday saying it was ready but they're a bit snowed under at the moment and it was still boxed up when I went to get it. The guys were great but worth giving them a call if you haven't already just to save you waiting around.

Had a look at mine last night whilst changeing the tubes* and tyres over. The ridges machined into the QR ends are pretty blunt. When I've got 5 minutes I'll file them into something a bit sharper and more pronounced just to be safe.
*Are they actualy motorcycle tubes? I'll send them to my dad to use in his Royal Enfield!

Also I found the front QR gave me a few issues with the wheels moving a little in the dropout causing the brake to rub. A shimano rear QR works great on the front.

Exactly the same issue, rode my new bike yesterday up near cheviot and today on the beach. Thought the rear brake needed setting up properly - turned out to be the rear drive side skewer half of the dropout.
What's the fix? Hope skewers?
Going to try the file option first. Hopes are £30 a pair and Salsa Flip-offs £45 ish. Salsa come in Orange if that helps... 😉
My gears felt like they were skipping, rear QR slipping? Couldn't see any evidence of it but couldn't find anything else wrong.
I use a Hope QR on the back, and a Shimano QR on the front. No issues.
Ordered some bragain Hope QR's, in purple* for £16
*clashes horribly, but at least they're not bland.

I've had mine a week now and given it a pretty good test over three rides. I'm really happy with it. It's the cheapest bike I own but I can see it becoming the most ridden.
I gave it a good run along the coast on Sunday. I felt like a big kid playing in the dunes and just cruising along the beach at low tide drawing shapes on the sand. There's a lot of exposed bed rock on the coast here so it's opened up some fantastic technical bits of riding close to home that I never new existed. Fun, fun and more fun.
I gave it a go in some rooty woodland stuff as well. With the wide bars and slack set up it's great on the singletrack and the grip is crazy on the wet roots. Bits that just wouldn't be fun normally were great.
The original tyres were rotten, swapped for Floaters which I'm happy with. The seat post is a shade short even for my stumpy legs on a medium frame. Other than that seems good. I'm looking to drill the rims out, lighter tubes and maybe put a carbon fork on at some point. It is heavy, and I can imagine it would be more fun if a bit lighter but it's definitely good enough as it comes.
Can't wait to give it a go in the snow and hopefully on some boggy hill routes in the highlands next year. So many new riding possibilities!
Just had the most infuriating ride ever on mine!
I presume it's the single wall nature of the rims, but the tyres don't seem to want to seat properly with tubes, too 3 or four attempts with a track pump to get the tyre vaguely round and not poping off the rim completely!
So cut to todays ride, afternoon booked off work, weather's looking reasonable, bikes ready to go.
1st hickup) Missus is ill, I got no sleep, then overslept so couldn't ride into work.
2) as a result of 1 I ended up working a bit later than planned, no worry though, by the time I've driven home I'll have made up the time lost, the ride will just be shorter.
3) realized I've removed the towbar bracket from the car and have no idea where it is, so the bike goes into the car.
4) At the absolute furthest point on the ride from the start I get a puncture. The tubes split completely, not the end of the world, I've a spare, and it was stretched quite a bit, maybe I was just unlucky.
5) get about 50m further down the trail and the tyre pops off the rim. Stop to let it down, re-inflate, try again, pops off, by this point it's getting dark and drizzling and I've had a sense of humour failure, my arm aches and I've run out of CO2 cartridges.
I've had tubeless woes in the past, but tubed woes? It was beyond irritating! Kept looking at the rim cursing whoever designed/spec'd it. Surely you could make a rim along the lines of the old Atomlab GI with the box section bits on the outside so the tyre doesn't have that huge step to get over?
Is there a knack to seating fat tyres?
This weekend I will be making life difficult for myself trying to tubeless them.
when i built my rolling chassis i had trouble with the tyres not seating evenly into the rims and giving the wheel an egg shape when spinning. i inflated them up to around 40-50 psi and they eventually sat correctly after i bashed them down on the floor on the high spots. not troubles since and still not trouble with my qr.'s either.
