No confirmations, no follow ups. Just 2 "successful" orders showing on their site. I hope the second one gets cancelled, cos I don't want it now.

@getonyourbike

no, not yet. I phoned them earlier today to see what the status of my order was. I only put one order through for a pair of shoes that were showing as in stock. They said that they were due to be dispatched in the next day or so.

I`ll be sticking with Chain reaction who always dispatch my parcels same or following day and I receive them next day.
Evans crap service ! or what ?

depends if you asked for a next day service. If not then they have 3-5 days to get the item to you.

I spoke to them today place an order for something else the guy told me...."the offer was for 'special' customers (big spenders, etc)".

He said some orders will have slipped through the net but lots won't be honoured!

Oh dear. Doubt I classify as a big spender, well for Evans.

If they do cancel my one order, which was £100 with £20 off, i will probably add them to my list of retailers to avoid. Good way to cut down the amount of sites I have to check when looking to buy parts. They will join jejames , David hinde and cycle surgery as people who are happy to mess punters about.

Mine still shows as successful but no shipping email yet.

If it was meant for specific people, they should have coded them like CRC do.

Then I had two refund emails from paypal for the second and third order.
No despatch email for the first order yet.

They will join jejames , David hinde and cycle surgery as people who are happy to mess punters about.

I've only ever had excellent service and prices from cycle surgery had some right bargains fro
Their timeout Tuesday deals and ordered some stuff the other day and recieved 2 days later
Evans however, I recieved the email (definately NOT a special customer of theirs) and decided the saving wasn't worth the hassle
JE James a phone call beforehand to check stock is usually okay, but then I'm close enough to call in rather than mail order

Evans. Seriously get with the modern times. Who owns you know?!

The orders are probably delayed due to packing staff being drafted into the orderline/helpdesk part of the company.

Seriously, I've placed various orders with Evans over the years and they've always been slightly slow off the mark, but I've never felt the need to call them to enquire. I would if it was after, say, 10 days or so.

You lot need to get a grip and chill...

How dare these people sell you goods at a sale price with 20quid knocked off and free postage and then have the ******* audacity to keep some of you waiting for 4 days.

This is the 21st century, people expect things cheap, discounted with free postage, gift wrapped and delivered by the fair hand of a brunette waif in lingerie, who won't shine the lazer in your eyes, within 24 hours. This is what we expect and we definitely do not deserve it.

Its not the 20quid off orders though. Its ALL their orders compared to all their competition.

Or in simple terms, drop your knickers? Then at least put it out

Is it to much too expect the Evans Cycles, one of, if not the largest high street cycle chain in the Uk to deliver the same great service most people receive from other online retailers.

I placed several orders on New Years from wiggle, crc, superstar components and JE James and Evans. My order with Evans wasn't a cheeky £40 order to get it half price either. All but evans delivered by Thursday, on contrast Evans haven't even dispatched.

From Evans website

FREE Standard UK delivery (delivered in 3-5 days)

It's there in black and white.

If you don't like it then go elsewhere ?

All the pies. I used parcelforce 48 for a 10lb bike frame. It was received the next morning. Should I make them double the time?

3-5 days? Evans means we pick in 3-5 dayS..

Yes, They said the items would be with you in 3-5 days, unless it has been 5 working days then there isn't a problem. The fact other stores got it to you quicker is irrelevant. I ordered wednesday evening, paid next day as I wanted my brakes for weekend, Got them Friday hense pleased customer.

Had I selected 3-5 days I wouldn't be bothered until next wednesday. They would still have uptil Tuesday to dispatch it.

shindiggy - Did you read the whole thread? Did you not notice that they've been wading through the fallout from this disasterous (for them) offer?

They may also have had a few people off, what with it being Xmas and all.

Just had my email to say my only item has been dispatched. Not bothered about delay. People were ordering when no staff were in over New Year, delay inevitable.

However, I also ordered something from Wiggle a day or two after the Evans order and it came yesterday. Always suspected Evans are not as slick as Wiggle/CRC/Merlin at dispatch and my expectations are therefore lower. So not surprised or particularly bothered. Got a bargain as far as I am concerned.

1st order dispatched, apart from the gt85 (only ordered to make it over £40 anyway 😉 )

not heard about my 2nd yet, but if i only get the 1st and have to wait a WHOLE WEEK i'll still be happy to get the things i wanted with £20 knocked off 😆

my 2nd order was only for a jacket as a spare anyway 😳

order dispatched today, yes i read the whole thread, also read online that it can take 3-5 days for delivery, was just hoping they would be here by the weekend.

Only rang to check my order was successful as i received very little information by way of email with regards to my order and with the code error not sure if it was being honored.

Mine's just been dispatched 🙂

However, Evans have got their own back by sending it with DPD and not the RM. Courier deliveries are a nightmare for us poor souls living out in the middle of nowhere. You nip out into the back yard for a moment to worm a couple of sheep and come back to find a card through the letterbox and your package on the way back to the distant 'local' depot. At least the postie knows to leave any packages in the green shed next to the oil tank. 🙁

(sorry had to get at least one complaint of my own in this thread)

Emails to say order two cancelled, order one is on its way as of today. Already been to lbs to buy order 2 again - I think I'm unusual in actually actually wanting both orders!

I'd also say that Evans have been great in 'normal' periods at getting orders out for the following day, I guess like the rest of the country, they are now getting back upto speed after Chrismas and new year.

TODAY it was despatched. Do Evans have modern warehousing systems or it it 5Polish blokes and a Laser printer pile of printouts to look for?

I selected free shipping think it is 3-5 days so no harm no foul in my book. Not to bothered if Evans have a modern warehousing system or if it is a bunch of blokes with a Biro and post it notes.

If I need something now or for tomorrow I go to the LBS.

What is the big beef with Evans Hora?

This is the third I used them. Last time the item didnt arrive as 'we had astock count on' (last month). So I ordered from Merlin.

3-5 days is fine if its received 3-5 days. Not even picked is taking the piss. Manage your customers expectations. Its not rocket science.

all three of my orders have been despatched so whilst it's a small saving overall (given the higher original sale prices), Evans are still quids in as they are selling the joystick I bought off them 5 weeks ago for £60 less now.

To be honest I'd use them more if their prices were better and they actually bothered acting on the feedback I submitted on the rather numerous website programming errors which can make the buying process a lot harder than it needs to be.

I dont get all the bitching about delivery/processing times. Dry your eyes and get some perspective. We got parts with £20 off, some got multiple orders fulfilled, fair play to you.

My one and only order was confirmed as despatched today. Thanks to the op who, ironically didn't order anything.

"3-5 days is fine if its received 3-5 days. Not even picked is taking the piss. Manage your customers expectations. Its not rocket science."

Evans state that in-stock items with free delivery are "delivered within 3-5 working days".

Assuming you ordered when the thread was started, that was 3 working days ago. Your stuff has until Tuesday to get to you before you can even think about legitimately bitching.

You ordered stuff, they're sending it within the timeframe stated on the website. Seriously, WTF is your problem here? Manage your own expectations. It's not rocket science.

i quite hate the british ( nee Hora) public 'we want it and we want it now regardless' expectation!!. If i go into a shop, say tesco, and its pretty quiet than i know i'll be served pretty quickly. My common sense i have also means that if its jumping then there will be queue's and i know i'll wait longer (regardless of how many staff they have on). Same with other things, Evans might have got 1000 orders through in 1 day, they might only pick and send 500 of those, which means 500 + the 1000 the next day. Its soon backs up regardless of how many team you have on.

I would say most businesses attempt 100% to make there business as fluent as possible but occasionally busy and really busy periods occur that means things get backlogged. Sh*t happens people, deal with it. The world will not end, your life will not deteriorate because your frigging ESI grips didnt arrive by Tuesday.
