TBH I'll be happy if my first order turns up, needed a pair of winter gloves and if I get them half price then great.
No sympathy for evans, it was an over-generous offer that clearly hadn't been thought through properly but I'm not going to cry over missing out on a couple of bargains. I'm more annoyed at myself for not using my girlfriends account to place the second order, it was actually for her anyway.
Just a quick note to say that we'll only be refunding any 2nd/3rd/4th etc. orders using the code - the first order will of course go through
That's a bit of an inconvenience.
I'll have to get Mrs MTG and her daughter to open accounts with Evans now. 😉
Oh, and her son.
And the neighbours.
Jesus wept, loads of people got a £20 discount that they didn't otherwise know about, *and* got the offer pulled to prevent the rest of us using it legitimately, and *still* complain as if they're being individually and gratuitously shafted by The Man.
There really are some miserable self-serving holier-than-thou bumcandles on here.
😆
So you were too late then Bez? Sorry about that. Anyway, cheer up - FTSE's flying today.
"bumcandle" ? Did you just make that word up ?
"So you were too late then Bez? Sorry about that."
I was, yes. But somehow I still managed to order the overshoes I wanted without needing to come on here all Disgusted-of-Tunbridge-Wells, sticking printouts of T&Cs on pitchforks and setting light to them whilst chanting "ream them" (ream them? - really? - not exactly a glasshouse from which you can comfortably throw stones at their customer service, is it?)
😉
Bumcandle - variation of arsecandle, euphemism for a dangling length of fecal matter.
What Bez says
Twunts
And no, I wasn't too late, nothing I wanted
Bumcandle - variation of arsecandle, euphemism for a dangling length of fecal matter
My dog gets those. Didn't know they had a name.
Only January the 2nd and I've learned something already this year.
tbh going by those terms and conditions they should honor the orders! its a cock up on there part and there isn't a directly related T&C's clause which by trading standards means that this should be honored!
It's a simple formula, just glue a rude word and a non-rude one together and then decide what it means.
Titcurtains, knobcobbler, jizzfridge, cockputty, smegbucket - knock yourself out.
"tbh going by those terms and conditions they should honor the orders! its a cock up on there part and there isn't a directly related T&C's clause which by trading standards means that this should be honored!"
Not at all. Try reading the T&Cs. The recently quoted parts of the T&Cs (which I suspect are the only ones you're looking at) are for cancellation of contract. They're only applicable once a contract has been created, and if you read the clause that was posted three pages ago (and is bog standard trading law anyway) the placement of an order does not constitute a contract:
"7. After placing an order, you will receive an email from us acknowledging that we have received your order for the Goods, and the delivery services you have requested from the delivery service provider. Please note that this does not mean that your order has been accepted. Your order constitutes an offer to Evans Cycles to buy Goods. All orders are subject to acceptance by us, and we will confirm such acceptance to you by sending you an email that confirms that the Goods have been dispatched by the delivery service provider (the "Dispatch Confirmation"). The contract between you and Evans Cycles will only be formed when we send you the Dispatch Confirmation."
The text accompanyng the voucher seems to clearly state that it's valid for "your next purchase over £40" and that it's not valid for gift vouchers.
Which means the people whining like it's some sort of human rights issue don't seem to have a leg to stand on in any respect whatsoever.
but doesn't payment of the goods (them taking the payment) constitute that you have entered the contract...
also the voucher states thats its valid for " your next purchase over £40" and that it's not valid for gift vouchers....
well isn't every purchase your next purchase did the text accumpanying the voucher say that it was valid only once?
hey am not even that bothered as i missed out
From 20 quid off at Evans to Jizzfridge in 8 pages-good work one and all 🙂
Wow, this has turned into a proper bun-fight hasn't it.
The ironic thing is that as 'OP' of this thread, I never actually used the code myself. I added a couple of things to my basket to purchase then posted the code on here while I pondered whether there was anything else I needed while I was at it. Then got called away by the missus for something, forgot all about it for a couple of hours and by the time I came back it was all over.
#FML #FWP etc. etc. 😕
Oh yeah... moral of the story - don't share 😆
Even though the code is dead this thread keeps on giving.. 😀
Can we adopt the word jizzfridge to mean exactly what has happened here?
"This thread has totally jizzfridged."
I think that's an apt description...
I didn't need anything so didn't exploit the code/ethics.
Just a quick note to say that we'll only be refunding any 2nd/3rd/4th etc. orders using the code - the first order will of course go through
Seems pretty fair to me.
Glad I pushed the button rather than deliberating like with the Oakley saga.
Just been speaking to Shami Chakrabati and it seems she's keen to take this one on as the next major human rights campaign for Liberty, so fingers crossed guys.
Jizzfridge n. The state of an offer that has collapsed after an attack of locusts (qv). (eg "didn't work for me, I think it's a jizzfridge")
Jizzfridge vi. To become a jizzfridge. (eg "don't bother, it's jizzfridged")
Fridgetit n. One who complains unreasonably about an offer that has jizzfridged.
...?
ooh! ooh! can it be a verb too? 😆
conjungate the verb to jizzfridge:
i jizzfridge
you jizzfridge
he/she jizzfridges... and so on
Soon the locusts will be demanding that Evans defrost the Jizzfridge!
Anyone thinking a shop should lose thousands of pounds they don't have to due to an oversight is truly just an average member of the general public and probably finds deal or no deal a mental challenge.
Well I've just had a lovely email from Evans saying that due to "technical reasons" the code no longer worked on their website but if I would care to print out the attached voucher and take it into any store, the same offer would apply, even on sale items.
So clearly not a mistake by them (other than not coding their website to decline multiple orders). Might just pop into my local Evans now...
Will you try printing out several copies?
if I would care to print out the attached voucher and take it into any store, the same offer would apply, even on sale items.
Link to the voucher for everyone to photocopy and use please...
I expect jizzfridge to appear in das krapital very soon!.
It never fails to amaze me, how you only ever find out how much of a **** some people are when there is cash involved.
Link to the voucher for everyone to photocopy and use please...
😆
It never fails to amaze me, how you only ever find out how much of a * some people are when there is cash involved.
Yes, I agree that the people getting all judgemental and angry because they missed out are *s. 😉
I've not had a refund or an email yet btw - anyone else?
^ Sounds like somebody's got jizz in their fridge.
Any idea whether they will re-do the code but for single use?
codebutt
okay had two orders go through last night on paypal
one for one single item
one for multiple
recieved confirmation emails for both paypal and evans
so i will get first but not second order?
No emails from evans saying anything to date.............
^ Sounds like somebody's got jizz in their fridge.
All over the fridge actually.
I placed one order and ordered one thing. Why the multiple orders?
How many bikes do you folks own?
I put an order thru with the code
got paypal confirmation but no email from evans
I then put an order thru without the code and got a payapal and evans confirmation
This thread reminds me of rosé when they messed up the exchange rates, they came on the forum and said no problem and agreed to honour all of the orders.
I placed one order for £80 with code, had an Evans email first, then a PayPal receipt. Should I be expecting a second email from Evans then?
My orders have been cancelled (apart from the first one - although had to cancel that too as I didnt need those parts without the other ordered parts) - says a refund can take upto 5 days. I expect most people will get their 1st/original order.
I got all the emails for each order and checked this morning and the money had been sent by PayPal
No cancellation email through yet, but I'm guessing they've got quite a few to do!
I placed one order and ordered one thing. Why the multiple orders?

Is that the rules? One order per bike? 😆
My Specialized Hotwalk has been dispatched. £57 instead of £100 🙂 🙂 🙂
I think 'spunkdonkey' sums up this thread.
After buying the Saris Bones Solo and getting it for £25 with the discount I've just discovered that it won't fit my car ffs!
After buying the Saris Bones Solo and getting it for £25 with the discount I've just discovered that it won't fit my car ffs!
at that price, you'll easily make your money back on it (and some!)
Thankfully, this is probably true...
"After buying the Saris Bones Solo and getting it for £25 with the discount I've just discovered that it won't fit my car ffs!"
Any updates on whats happening to the orders?
I have heard nothing about the two I placed other than the original confirmations from Evans that they had been accepted.
I've had an e-mail saying that all orders would be cancelled apart from my first. Followed up by individual cancellation e-mails for my second and third order.
Not completely unhappy with that.
Yep, order one seems to be ok, order 2 is cancelled. Not too concerned as I still got a pair of spd's and a toady seat pack for £22. I'll just pay full price for the ergon grips and spare exposure mount from the lbs!
One cancelled, first to be fulfilled. I'll have to find somewhere to get that 2nd tyre 🙂
placed one order and heard nothing as well
Last time [only time actually ]they sent it to the wrong address though so who knows what will happen this time.
They had some weird out of date address on my recent one. Nothing showed at the checkout (as paypal shows the delivery address)- then on order confirmation BANG there it was - an old address.they sent it to the wrong address though so who knows what will happen this time.
Had a polite email from them stating there had been a cockup at their end with the code and that they will honor the first purchase. Seems pretty fair to me.
no they somehow - perhaps it relates to them putting internet orders on their system- sent it to a neighbour - i found out weeks later- 15 became 11 iirc
as above first honoured second cancelled fair enough, just ordered the second with a £5 discount so all in all very happy
I only placed one order for a Camelbak, got the confirmation email and had nothing since. I'm hoping no news is good news.
Ditto- are they always this slow?
Ditto- are they always this slow?
Normally very good but surely a 9-page thread on here tells you they've got thousands of orders to go through!

Same as me i emailed them today and they said they were waiting for stock to come in 😀
Waiting for stock? So they sell things that they dont have.
They actually said waiting for stock from another store, I opted for store collection.
You tease..
Phoned them today, a nice lady said one of their operatives was now busy processing my order and it would arrive in the next 3 to 5 days.
Living in Hope
The operative is cycling to your house? Jesus take a leaf out of Burts Planet X delivery service Evans.
"Waiting for stock? So they sell things that they dont have."
Like pretty much every shop known to man, online and off.
You really are quite determined to find something to feel maligned about, aren't you?
Serious 1st world problem.
Always amazes me how quick people are these days to bring out the "i'll take you to trading standards" or "Small claims court". I'd understand if it was for a faulty bike etc or serious amount of money.
But £20 FFS??
Funny though if people end up with one tyre or brake.

Um..... where has anyone said that? Looks like someone else is bitter about missing out. 🙂
Still no email or refund - maybe both my orders are going through. 😉
Looks like someone else is bitter about missing out.
Why do you assume those commenting on the moaning or multi-ordering didn't place an order...?
Looks like someone else is bitter about missing out
Nope ordered brakes wednesday saved £20, arrived yesterday riding tonight, really pleased.
could have been greedy but only wanted brakes got what i thought was a fair price, V Happy customer. 😆
Um..... where has anyone said that?

I think you've extrapolated slightly there.
I think you've extrapolated slightly their
Fixed... 🙂
I think you've extrapolated slightly there.
Yeah, I'm not the Messiah, I'll think about what I have done 🙁
Do Evan email you with a dispached notice?
Yeah I got plenty of emails,
order confirmation just after order.
dispatch notice and courier info next morning around 10am,
yesterday morning an email saying it would be delivered that day.
I assume you choose next day delivery?
I placed my order tuesday evening with free delivery, not heard anything back yet since the first confirmation email. Account does state sucessful order status though. Was hoping for delivery today, but nothing has turned up yet.
Just been on the phone to Evans enquiring about my order for 2 IN STOCK items 3 days ago - not yet dispatched. So a reasonable request - can I change my delivery address to workplace rather than home as it obviously wont arrive until later next week when im back at work. "thats not possible sir" Why ? when do you intend to dispatch says I , "later today or tommorrow" he says . So why ? ORDER CANCELLED !
I`ll be sticking with Chain reaction who always dispatch my parcels same or following day and I receive them next day.
Evans crap service ! or what ?
