Thought this was a good deal from Chainreaction for Microshift

All for less than the cost of a SRAM cassette.

I have the front chainring and I recommend using an 11 speed chain.

Throw the compatible drop bar shifters into the mix and that'll be very interesting to some.

Thanks for that! I've been wanting to try that combo on my bikepacking bike/local route hardtail (running old deore 1x10) for a while. Good price!

Why the 11 speed chain though?

Just a hack I've seen. One of the criticism was it was a bit noisy. Slightly narrower chain which runs a bit quieter as better clearance.

Will a XT M8000 rear derailleur be compatible?

Hmmm. Despite having dropped 200 quid on spare chain, cassette and ring last week for my XT 12 Speed, that looks tempting. Anyone know if it'll work with a 12 speed chainring? I guess not

Don't think so. 10 speed but with the large 48 tooth cassette it won't be far off my 12 speed

It will work with a 12 speed chainring, its all the same pitch, the chainring is just narrower but it will work fine.

I've been tempted by Microshift for awhile but after seeing how delicate my boy's rear mech is I'm less keen to buy it now.

Apart of the bargaintastic cassette, I bought 11 speed SRAM NX from R2 for similar money.

Shifts beautifully.

Seems robust enough but I have a habit of wrecking them on this bike but at £28 it doesn't hurt so much as the £100 I paid for the XT one before it

The mech has been great for me. It's the 18t cassette sprocket I wear out really quickly.

But I've swapped in an old Shimano one from a retired casette and that seems to be working. It's on the eeb and it's the gear I use to pedal into jumps.
