I've had a quick search on here and couldn't find anything soo...

The Beast & MBR are Closed "for a period of approximately 8 weeks to allow for felling & rebuilding work"

Seems a bit excessive to just close the whole lot rather than put diversions in but there you go!
I had a sneaky look round last weekend and the bit that's actually taped off runs from "abel" through "False teeth" but the maps on the trail centre just state the whole thing's closed. Dragons back & Tarw open as usual.

Thank you 🙂

I did a bit of "natural" riding round there to circumvent the closed bits - good fun in even more wetness than the week before!

Hmm, nothing on the FC or MBWales sites, other than:

Please be aware that there will be heavy wagons frequently passing through the overflow car park, Mon-Fri, for the next few weeks. Please proceed with caution and follow all signage

Definite closures?

That's quite worrying, as I'm off to Coed-y-Brenin this weekend. Are these trails definitely closed, because I don't fancy riding the Tarw Trail and Dragons Back over and over again!

Might have to go elsewhere if this is the case.

Well there was a paper sign tacked to the trail maps at the visitors centre stating that both trails were closed for 8 weeks; the trail sections mentioned above were taped up to avoid any doubts. I did see a few "diversion" signs around but they certainly weren't properly in place when I rode on Sunday.

It does seem a bit drastic to close the whole trail, especially considering how much MTBing brings into the area - surely diversions and traffic management can't be that difficult to arrange?!!

Sounds like extensive resurfacing to me, you can't really do much else but close the trails if you've got a lot of that to do, and then you want settling time as well.

Please don't let them "resurface" false teeth - it's the only remaining bit of singletrack that feels vaguely natural and you actually have a chance of falling off/washing out at speed on it 😥 .
Whilst the trail fairies have done a commendable job with the recent work it's nice to have a bit of contrast and the MBR route provided that...

And northwind - I agree there's no getting away from closing sections for maintenance but surely diversions, even if on fire roads, are better than closing the entire trail?

Don't know the trail but yeah, usually you'd say so. It's not always possible though, does depend on the extent of the work. It could turn out they're putting miles of new top on it. Or it might not of course!
