You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Went yesterday, the conditions are pretty much perfect. The runs were very grippy and fast, and we didn’t overheat with all our pads on, even in the vans. Uplift was instant as it was quiet, and most of the mud was frozen. One side of the hill was very frosty so it added a bit of extra ‘shiiiiiit’ to the techy steep bits. One of the best days there I’d say. If you’ve only been in the summer a winter visit is a very different experience.
I thought it was always open on Wednesday
For reasons I’m not entirely sure of, I only seem to have been in winter. Always wondered what it would be like without biblical rain…
TH it’s really very good, but frozen is my favourite. We have only had one day that was a total washout and we gave up at lunch. Bone dry and 40 degrees is also a real challenge. The trails get dusty and lack grip, and the vans are unpleasant. Sorry about the bold.
dc don’t think so, but happy to give them a plug, and a reminder that you don’t always need to plan weeks ahead.
I thought they were only open Wednesdays during school holidays and recently to make up for days they have closed due to ambulance crew strikes? Has it become a permanent thing? I’m especially interested as I have Wednesdays off
RB I think so, but they were quiet so hopefully they will get busier and carry on…

looks sporadic
I went BPW on friday, opposite experince to the OP, the mud which was frozen on most trails which had exposed out in the open sections has now defrosted and made them soft, claggy and no joy to ride. Anything in the treelines though is prime!
A470, Enter the dragon and AC/DC were all shut when we went. Insuffiencet funds was running awfully as the new tables are so soft from defrosting.

I`ve chatted to them before about this - this is a H&S thing - when its frozen the ground acts like a cheesegrater when people crash. also there may be frozen ruts which are dangerous. They also close them when its too windy - the last couple of times ive been one or more of these trails has been shut for, at least part of teh day.
basically people act like lemmings on the jumps and this is the bike parks way of trying to reduce the ambulance demand! The tech trails, while also frozen are (usually!!) taken more steadily in adverse conditions.
there is plenty of other stuff to ride though its always dissapointing to find a closed trail.
i wish i was closer and could go more.
