Thanks for the heads up.
Might try the spiral bike lock as a café lock, looks like my old freebie MBR one. The baggies might be Ok for commuting as well.
Wonder if the zips are sorted on the gilets?
What's the deal?
Will this be at all stores?
Is it a bit of a get there early bunfight?
Should be all stores, should be a bunfight. Those grey haired CTC ladies you see sipping tea outside cafes? They go ****ing batshit mental in an Aldi bike kit sale!
I got one of the jackets last year and its a cracker for the money. Great for bunging in the pocket on those in between days, packs down a little smaller than an apple. Windproof base layer sounds interesting too.
Thanks for the heads up. Few bits I would be interested in.

Excellent, I'll certainly pick up a few pairs of socks and the LED lights aren't bad as emergency lights either.

got one of these for washing the bike on sunday, very happy!
What are the rucksacks like? I could do with a new one.
They had some camelbak style bladders in recently for £6, looked like a good buy, may be some left if I you need one!
You lot fight over the clothing.
I'm going in elbows first for the 'precision oil pen'.
Never seen anyone like this Aldi: https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/sunday-4th-may/product-detail/ps/p/mens-and-ladies-triathlon-suit/
The yellow rucksack looks alright.
I Have loads of bike clothes, some very expensive, some from a pro team ( given to me by a sponsor, I am no pro ) Those softshell jackets are my favourite bit of bike kit, the base layers are also as good if not better than much more expensive kit. The shorts and underwear are also very good under baggies for quick blasts around the woods, not so good for epics, but well worth the price.
I reckon I could pull that off...
I bought a lightwight jacket, the spd shoes and a pair of mitts last time round. Despite being a Large the jacket was too small for my partner (she is a size 8/10!), the gloves split on the seems on both hands on the second ride and worst of all the SPD cleat fixings came loose in the shoe on the very first ride almost resulting in a broken leg as they failed to release. I had to remove the shoe from my foot and use a screwdriver to prise it off the pedal. In the past I have had some great kit with the Crane brand, but vowed there and then never to buy cycling kit from Aldi again.
However, must say, the no quibble return was flawless and I simply took it all back for a refund.
What's that compressor like with tubeless tyres?
OOOOOH a precision oil pen......something new for the toolbox?
Ta, was only wondering this morning if I'd missed this year's. Bugger that it's on sunday of bank holiday weekend, it'll mean a special trip out.
A mate and I have a CX epic planned for Sunday to take in the Leawood pumping station in action. Looks like we might have to add a few more miles to get to an Aldi as well.
What are the rucksacks like?
I bought one of their bike rucsacs with drinking system (a camelback type affair) seven years ago, thinking that it would last a year or two. It's still going strong, one of the poppers came off the weather cover, and the clip for holding the hose to the strap fell off, but other than that it has lasted well.
The Socks are the best! I need some more yay!
Most exciting news today! Tightwad nirvana!
Tightwad nirvana!
QFT Bro. I *LIKE* that phrase
What's that compressor like with tubeless tyres?
It's ok for tyres that wont go up with a track pump. Bloody noisy though.
Are those light weight jackets/gillets any good?
I was considering a montane velo, but these are so cheap.
We have the compressor mounted on the garage wall. Great bit of kit.
What time does Aldi open on a Sunday? Do they open the doors before official opening time, if so how much before? Bring it on! 😈
My local Aldi opens the doors at 9-30 and starts serving at 10
Popped in to the local Aldi tonight, they were putting the cycle gear out at 7.45 as we finished our shopping. When I went to find shorts, the staff said that it wouldn't go through the tills till tomorrow morning. Grrr, half the point of going was to get an early run at the cycle gear. Still, got loads of supplies and can always call into the Buxton store en route to tomorrow's ride
Mission accomplished! 😀
Got a new jersey for 8 quid which looks and fits nice but I'm most impressed with my new 'casual cycling shorts' for 12 quid, baggies with a padded liner, much nicer feeling material than my altura attacks, with more stretch and give.
20 quid all in, result.
And sardines in tomato sauce only 40p a tin!!! Box of 24 bought.
I went earlier on today, great range of stuff.
Got some shorts, 2 jerseys, pair of shoes (which look pretty well made), backpack (VERY impressed with that), socks and a running shirt, totalled just over £80
Sorted for the summer now
EDIT - forgot about the ultralight jacket, it weighs nothing!
Was at a loose end so popped down at 10 and was amazed that people were queueing to get in!
managed to spend 70 on a few bits for me and some for the kids.
Most of it looks pretty good quality.
Set of Pannier bags bagged & in the bag.
Quality looks ok.
Kids bought a lock each.
Usual Car Boot / EBay nobbers buying everything in sight.
Try their freshly baked bloomer...it's gorgeous.
Proper slices...
There was a guy walking round ours wearing one of the jackets with at least another three in his trolley
I went in at 12 to do the weekly shop
Couldnt move for folk rushing to buy ill fitting cycling clothing , cheap lights and a pump i wouldnt trust to inflate a football at home never mind a bike tire to self recover from the cairngorms.
They were litterally fighting over it.
I bought some jeyes fluid and a utility lighter.
Anyone get one of the yellow hydration packs?
The lightweight jackets are excellent and easily fit into a pocket until needed. They are superlight weight though and would not keep you dry in a heavy downpour. You could always waterproof them using nikwax tx direct.
Pump seems OK to me, gauge a bit out as you'd expect but seems to inflate OK and has a high volume/pressure switch.
I got a lock, lightweight jacket, road bike shorts and one of the £7.99 jerseys.
Just done a MTB ride with the jersey on and the lightweight jacket and they are fine.
I'd say the jacket is more of a summer item just to take the chill off if its a bit nippy, I wouldn't want to use it in a downpour or cold weather.
The jersey just has one big pocket, not the usual 3
It was like a pantomime in the store with about 30 people queuing up outside waiting for 10am and the stuff was being thrown around as people looked for their sizes. They must have took a fortune in that first hour.
Bought a convertible soft shell for £16. Will it be x10 worse than the Gore Alp-X I bought last year on which the seams popped on the 2nd ride? Doubt it.
I've got a lightweight waterproof that is at least three years old and has been through the wash loads of times, still performs perfectly well until it is really overwhelmed by lashing rain as happened a couple of times this winter. It is 'boil in the bag' material, but it has the classic roadie 'gap and overlap' for ventilation. Some things just work and this has to be one of the best value items of kit I have. Other stuff has mostly been excellent from Aldi as well. One gilet has a duff zip after about three wearings, but other than that I think the aldi gear is pretty good. I might nip in for a spare pair of shoes tomorrow.
Bought the soft shell and the red bag, both for commuting. The yellow bag is tiny 6ltrs
I was going to go but the thought of the inevitable bunfight at the Oxford store put me off so I just had a ride instead. Asked my ex to see if the Aldi Weymouth has a hydration bag still. Always seems quieter down ther.
anyone got a windproof base layer???? If so what are they like
popped down at 10 and was amazed that people were queueing to get in!
How much would a supermarket give for that on a Sunday morning?
Made a special trip to look at the stuff, unfortunately I went yesterday as I got confused. Chuff!
Socks, lightweight jacket, daughter got some shades, socks and gloves for her road bike.
It was three deep at the cycling bit in ours at 10am this morning!
Triathlon suit - and no photos of the family laughing their heads off are not forthcoming.
I bought one of the flimsy-feeling gilets - fingers crossed
Bought some medium undershorts fit me everywere apart from where the grippers are, there is about 1/2" of extra material
My mate and I went for long ride today. My personal shopper went to Aldi on my behalf and I have flimsy but very small when scrunched up gilet, a spiral lock as my new café lock - bit heavier than I expected actually, and a pair of the casual shorts
The shorts look and feel amazing - some sort of softshell material, no superfluous pockets, no so sure about the padded inner shorts but the size large - 34-36" is actually a perfect fit for my 35" waist!
Are you listening, Endura? 👿
