Alloy aero roof bars, to fit cars with exsiting roof rails ie most estates. Just bought a pair, fitted/tested them and they're fantastic for the money. Made by Menabo (Amazon have them listed at £49.99!).

I got a set yesterday in Nottingham they had a few sets in and they fit perfectly to my 61plate Sloda Superb estate - can anyone recommend me a decent bike carrier for them??

I've only ever used Aldi - can you just go into lidl and buy stuff as with aldi or is it a membership thing ?

You can just walk in off the street, no membership etc.

My legs always look like that after a muddy ride (partially brown, not female;))

Does anyone know if these will work with Thule feet packs?

They only fit cars with factory-fitted rails ie like most estate cars.

They're actually Menabo Brio Uni roof bars, re-packaged for Lidl! So if you go to the website: http://www.flli-menabo.it

You'll probably be able to find a fit list there. The packaging does list what cars they do fit.

They're not bad, I think the allen bolt you tighten them with may round before long if you put them on and off a lot tho.

I got some - look well made and a **** load cheaper than anything else around. I nearly bought some off ebay for £49 - have seen them for £80 on ebay too.

But..

1. the clamp is a bit high for my car - not a huge problem as they are universal. At least it does fit snuggly.

2. I don't like the end caps which just push on. I prefer the Thule ones that lock or get gripped by the clamp as it's another barrier against removing racks.

3. I went to fit my Thule bike racks using the T track fittings and the bloody slots are too narrow so I would need new slimmer T bolts.

4. So I thought I'll use the alternative fittings but as they are aero style bars they are too wide for the steel square bar fittings that come on one of my racks (U bolt). They may work with the curved ones on the 591 racks but I didn't get that far.

arse! at £27 they are a really good deal if you can use them with your racks.

Does it have roof rails? I think that is the key factor...

Yeah it does have rails, looks worth a punt, I guess no locks is a problem, anyone know if there are any upgrades available to retrofit locks?

yeah 'break' means estate.

There is a lock at each end - ie 4 locks. Comes with 2 keys and you just tighten the clamps with an allen key through the hole in the end.

They are nicely made, definitely a bargain at £26.

You should be able to get Proride 591 and similar bike racks that use the curved clamp systems for square bars. Just not the 20x20 T bolts. I need to fit an older front wheel off rack as well as my 2 591s for tomorrow as I cant clamp my carbon frame.

Looks like I will have to get a Thule afterall. Tempted to get some Wingbars.

Another way is drill holes in the middle where you want to put your T bolts and put a high tensile M6 bolt up from below and use the existing cams to clamp them down. I was going to do this but didn't have any 10.9 bolts the right length.

Good shout.Just nipped out and got a pair.Thanks.
Addmitedly, not as robust as my Thule aero bars, but great value.
Although they won't accept the Thule 'T' track bolts, M6 roofing bolts will slide into the channel, for those with 'T' track accessories.
