Planet X are selling off cafe locks, handy to keep in your pack if you need to nip into a shop for a minute or so.
Postage is £3.99 but if you buy a few or other items it's not too bad.

Anyone in South Wales or Bristol doing an order? I fancy one but £4 P&P seems steep 😉
I think the idea is you buy something you need and add one in cos theyre so cheap 😊
Last order I placed with ACycles they chucked one in for free. Which was nice.
Right.
Thinking it would be perfect for long ITT rides where weight is a premium and you don't want to leave your bike totally defenceless outside that remote petrol station or whatever.
I'll jump in with you Mols
edit - buggerit, they only let you order 1 lock
Thanks for trying 🙂
I had one. It was crap.
Set the combination (same as all my other locks), went for a ride, locked bike. Came out and the combination wouldn't work.
Not a problem though as a cheap pair of pliers cut through in seconds.
Oh dear, not the best PSA, didn't realise you could only purchase 1.
It’s a shame but eBay traders and even regular industry trade did tend to snap up bargains that were left unlimited.
Lmao, I have a laptop lock similar to that, having seen how quickly a jake removed a bike with a proper cable lock just by pulling it I dread to think how easy it would be to pop that.
This isn't a PX specific bash I'd be ripping the piss out anyone who suggested a cheap laptop lock was in any way suitable for securing a bike (other than stopping it falling over)
I've used that type for skis & snowboards. It's very much to hope that they pick up the board next to yours once they see it's locked. It won't stop them for long.
I've got one of these for snowboarding now, and might take it for the 2 minutes outside a shop on the cheaper bike

If weight is such an issue you are probably better off with a zip tie and then just push the catch to remove. Reusable too if you are careful.
Also leave it in top gear when you park it so it's harder to get a fast getaway.
This or just take a better lock.
On the zip lock front, I have a Hip Lock which I keep in my saddle bag and is handy when popping into the shop or getting a quick pint, especially when bike packing. It's not going to stop anyone with a pair of pliers (or a paperclip) but it'll stop opportunistic theft:

Hope C2's were also good fo this, either you're going nowhere or won't be stopping.

Which does explain why PX are now trying to shift crates of locks and GT85 😉
I'm not under any illusions as to security, but when bike packing a heavy lock is not acceptable so it's either this or nothing at all. However:

A handful of long zip ties is a pretty good idea. However a passing light fingered opportunist (rather than actual thief) is slightly more likely to have a knife than pliers.
As others- I had an identical-looking one for locking skis. The ratchet and unlock button both broke during normal usage. Best get something more reliable even at expense of weight.
I bought an identical one last year. As molgrips suggests it's handy when bikepacking for those shop/loo/cafe moments, though I still prefer to see the bike as it will have bags strapped on too. Mine is bright orange. I reckoned the visual detterent was handy. I'm sure I only paid £3.99 for it.
Also leave it in top gear when you park it so it’s harder to get a fast getaway.
If it's in sight but not arm's reach, I drop the chain off onto the BB, then you can't just pedal away.
Would still be a good chase.....them pushing Vs me in cleats
Just realised my free lock was from Rose Bikes, not ACycles. (The Acycles order hasn’t even turned up yet! 10 days so far).
Yeah, Rose freebee. Useful for parking Tripster outside the Tesco Express.
