Been done http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/psa-brand-x-ascend-xl-at-crc

But worth repeating as seems a very good deal.

I've ordered the XL which after British Cycling discount comes to £100.

Has anyone spent much time using one of these? What’s the quality / functionality/ longevity like?

I'll find out. Ordered one for the Spitfire to replace the Reverb Stealth (125mm version) which will go on the BFe (once the frame is drilled) to replace the normal Reverb (125mm) which has been sold to pay for the Ascend XL.

My brother has the 125mm drop internal one for about a year with no difficulties or problems. Paddle/lever is a bit flimsy but not broken yet.

They are consistently reviewed as being particularly reliable.

Very tempted to purchase one myself as a back-up - lacks of funds means my faith in my trusty Spesh IRC goes on..

They're good and dead easy to set up. The lever's a bit feeble but ours never broke.

I've been using a xl for a round a month now, in some pretty cack conditions and it's been great. Easy to set up and build quality seems good. Lever is flimsy but does it's job and works. For the money it's fantastic.
