Not really supporting your local LBS or independent retailer is it?

Some of the responses on this forum truly amaze me

It’s actually impossible to make any post of any kind without a negative response of some kind

For the record my LBS don’t even sell that tyre

Says the man from Planet X. A company still owned by and run by Dave who started it from his mums shed.

And who also now happen to be one of the biggest internet mail order companies taking business from your local LBS!

Bit of a tangent, but is it correct that PX laid off a load of staff in order to use casual, zero-hours labour instead of permanent employees (with proper benefits and holiday entitlement)?

That's me never buying from Planet X and On One again. What a stupid response to a post showing where a tyre can be had cheap.

Great P.R. Brant.

P.S. I owned an inbred..it rode like a bag of spanners so I sold it and bought a Cotic. Rode 50x better

I recall their Edinburgh store lasted a matter of weeks before closing with a cheeky AF note on the door saying that their low prices were not commercially viable with the overheads of a city centre store.

No sh-t Sherlock.

There are other discounters out there, but for me none as cynical and unpleasant as Planet X.

Yeah well Marks and Spencer started from one shop/stall, but it’s not really the same now is it??

Even the Wikipedia page for Planet X says it doesn’t operate any normal shops. The one it did have away from it’s distribution centre it shut despite it being in a very cheap out of town place.

What a muppet.

And with a 62% holding and very much control sitting in the hands of the man who started it all with one shop and a loan from his parents, do we also consider Sports Direct to be a local indie too?

To be fair, Millets are selling some proper niche tyres too. Don't think I could get these in my LBS:

To be fair, 27.3 is a more accurate description than the usual 27.5! 😁
