Thanks 2x 27.2 crank brothers droppers ordered- one for the gravel bike and one for my daughters new bike. Although generally I try to boycott Evans/Mark Ashley - I tend to only buy stuff from Evans when it's heavily discounted now.

Now off to find a good dropbar remote.

Damn, stuff sold fast, had the DT 1501s in my basket but sold out when I went to check out. I did get the last Hope 30mm BB, I'd have had 3 or four of those if they'd had stock.

Thanks OP.

I'll be finding out, because I've got a set to finally (hopefully!) get my Scandal frame built up, two years after I bought it...

Thanks for the heads up.

From looking at other sites listings it appears that they're a HG hub with no way to convert to Microspline.

Mavic make microspline freehubs for their 360 hubs so no reason why you couldn't fit one to xa wheels.

Thanks for the heads up 😀 Put in for a single Hope V4 caliper. Unfortunately it wont do 2. So maybe get it, maybe not, or might be limited to singles. £60 is a very good price.

The 360 freehub not fitting the XA hub or axle would be a reason

I had the same wheel which used the 360 hub. They don't use the old ITS2/4 pawl system.

Edit. The first versions of xa used the pawl system, then they changed to the 360 and 30mm rims instead of 25mm. I'd be surprised if they're the older version, but it's not clear from the listing...

Are they trying to purge the business of anything too flash and expensive so they can concentrate on Lonsdale umbrellas and giant mugs?

Evans have always had an excellent sale / bargain bin, even before Mark Ashley you could find some absolute gems.

I guess the volume of shops and stock means that the head office can analyse what sells and what margins they need across the group of shops on products when bought in bulk.

Just time for a clear out of there less popular stock and sizing.

There was a period years back where discounted Iron Horses were everywhere, CRC had containers of them. They were ace bikes

True, but iirc this was before the big fall and they were selling off World Cup frames for something like £600 with shock (and nobody else was doing similar). When they when bust you're right they were everywhere, briefly

Theres a few nice GRX bits hidden in there too at very good prices considering its been all but un-obtainium for a couple of years, good for a gravel bike build.

If you looked closely you can put together a set of brand new 9120 4-pot brakes for c.£200.

Anyone else noticed their order pending twice on their bank account / credit card?

Ordered a wheel (Evans showing only one order), but AmEx has the bill pending twice.

Odds are it’ll sort itself but worth keeping an eye out for.

Don't take my word for it, nor can I guarantee that Evans would supply all the bits... but I do believe Stans wheels come with a bunch of adapters.

(Having said that, then looking at the description on Evans - "Wheelset is available in both 12 /142 and boost options " - I woulda thought it would specify boost if they were the boost hubs. Having said that, you can get adapters if they don't come with em 😀 )

My new Hope V4 caliper arrived today(just now) the next day was £3 extra which seemed well worth it, and i guessed they would run out fast so maybe fast tracked the order. Total 67 quid, a saving of £35. Came with pads and hose fittings too.

Many thanks to whatyadoinsucka . for the heads up.

Hope everyone got what they ordered.

Is that what everyone else has had?

Just got a hope pro 4 rear wheel for £140

😯 What pro4 rear wheel ??

.

Oh Bloody Hell, i totally missed that. I need a pro4 rear wheel too.

Popped off and they still have one at least but i see its a straight pull, and i dont know how suitable that is for Ebikes.

EDIT:

Just off the phone to Hope technical department and yes, they think it is ok for ebikes, but not really best suited for rock gardens or anything super strenuous.

For my urban perambulations, its absolutely fine.

£150 well spent. I've reached my bike buying limit now so ffs nobody recommend anything else 😆

@dyna-ti

We run a 29 carbon Rovals with straight pull spokes on DT Swiss hubs on one of the Turbo Levos and a Levo SL, busted one spoke on a sideways rock impact and local bike shop had no problems replacing it.

The others are on Pro 4 and Sixth Element rims

Thanks @snotrag, hadnt even looked for GRX, before your mention, thought I'd got lucky.

i ordered what supposedly was a GRX810LA (ie left handed dropper actuator) packaging looks to be a GRX810L which i guess is just a brake lever

also ordered a Tiagra 4720 hydraulic left hand 2x10 lever, hoping that is the correct one so i can upgrade the current mech shifters, just need a matching right hand 10x shifter..

also jumped on some bontrager aeolus 35 carbon wheels £374, £775 on many sites. just wish they were 3-4mm wider internals and they'd have been perfect. but alot cheaper than other wheels i'd been checking out

Have to say, theres been some extraordinary deal of late. I think the combined STW riders must have spent many thousands on these deals over the last couple of weeks alone 😯

Woah there...don't go getting all technical on me!! Wouldn't this involve further expenditure on the bits needed to reduce travel thus negating the price saving? I'm technically challenged and new to this spannering mularkey haha

It would only save you 20-40 quid depending on whether you got a new or 2nd hand air spring. And if you haven't done the job before, you'd have to buy some oil but that's cheap. Depends if you want to learn to work on forks or happy with paying to get them serviced. Sounds like the Evans ones would make more sense!

I just got the real wheel ^^ - £65. Slightly annoying that it doesn't come with the adapters/valve that Mavic usually ship with their wheels. But only slightly.
Good that's it's Shimano freehub, cos that was a bit of a punt 🙂

Just realised that they’ve sent me Race Face Next R handlebars rather than the Sixc described on the website. To be honest the ones they sent are a better colour match with my bike so I’ll live with the £5 difference at full price and 5g extra weight.

GRX shifter set turned up this morning. Box looks a little sad and one of the shifters wasn’t in the plastic so a tiny bit rubbed up by the cardboard, but given I’ll no doubt drop my bike or crash within the first hour of them being fitted I’m not complaining about the world smallest cosmetic issues for 30% off (and in stock!). Cheers OP.
