Why did no-one tell me how fast it was possible to go on 25x14 and 16" wheels? Have just spent half an hour chasing a fast-receding small person up and down the Esplanade, including belting through a crowd of runners at max chat...

Took my 2 boys round the green at Glentress yesterday
The youngest struggled a bit on his balance bike, but was still n living it, but the eldest who's 5 was off like a rocket, whilst I was trying to keep the youngest upright.
I went from worrying he'd be too intimidated to ride it to scared he was going to bin it on the boardwalk into a stream, when he did overcook a corner and went OTB he just found it hilarious

Was a great day

Just got FunkmasterJunior his first balance bike. He's more interested in wearing the dinosaur helmet than riding it, but he's given it a few goes. I'll be so chuffed if / when he starts using it more. Really happy for you OP, he'll be dropping you on the descents before you know it

She. Next Laura Trott, I tell you.

#2 (aged 3¼) is now rejecting her balance bike as she wants 'a proper bike with pedals'

It took #1 a while; helmet has had good use on the scooter but after a year of school we really felt the time had come, which led to me running up and down in various parks holding onto her. I'm sure FMJ will get it quickly when he's ready - good luck!

Today found myself explaining about a girl called Rachel who was so good at riding bikes down hills that she got a special jersey to say she was the best in the world. Hmmm.

At the beginning of summer both my boys were still on stabilisers and although one was very handy on a balance bike he was totally lacking in confidence when he got on a pedal bike..

Fast forward a few weeks and after a couple of false starts the stabilisers are gone forever.
As well as an 11 mile tow path pootle we've spent the last two evenings at the local pitch and putt with them both racing full pelt from the top of the hill to the bottom, trying (and succeeding) to get air off the greens!!
I kept trying to get the oldest to use his brakes a little but was just met with a chorus of 'LAAAAAME' from the pair of them..

I'm proud and terrified in equal measures 😀

(I'll record and post up some video tomorrow as it's quite a spectacle)
