any recommendations for a good protein/meal replacement drink?
2 pints of milk & a banana.

Loads of flavours and pretty cheap. I recommend Choc Mint, tastes like an aero especially if mixed with milk.
If you use code GT79665 then you get a free little extra bag of a different flavour and so do I. Win win. I would unsubscribe from the email list once you've ordered though.

choc milk after a workout but protein/meal replacement drinks arnt a substitute for a balanced diet, get some tuna, chicken and mackrel to munch on instead.
Try MyProtein.comtheir basic protein is good. Cookies and cream is my favourite at the mo
Two pints of milk and a banana would probably contain about 12-13 teaspoons of sugar. No thanks!

Probably less than most of the recovery/protein drinks out there then?

2 pints of milk & a banana.
Add a slice of whole meal toast with peanut butter for the full meal replacement.
I'd rather drink milk than protein powdered drinks. All without fail taste gopping.
Ok then, 1 pint of milk, a banana, whites of 4 eggs & some wholemeal toast with peanut butter.
Less than £2?
After a good ride I usually just have a big **** off curry & loads of beer.

...until someone mixes it with milk 😆
i should have added, this is for my 75yr old mum. she is struggling to eat meals, and the Dr has told her to try complan type stuff.
she hates that too, and the plaster of paris NHS stuff.
Forticreme, fortisip....
Pulcin do a 93% protein powder with no flavouring or sweeteners. I blend with milk, a banana and a handful of frozen berries.
A pinch of sugar or bit of honey, and it tastes fine. You could also use some chocolate powder.

...therefore adding sugar.
so much hate for the cheapest and easiest way to ingest protein.

Most good protein powders contain very little sugar.
I'm not in the least bit bothered about adding sugar.
It's not compulsory though.

& taste like it, so I put sugar in. Anyway milk sugar is lactose & fruity sugar is fructose. I'm no dietician (have you seen the state of me?) but neither are 'granulated'
I stand to be corrected though & I'm pretty sure Ton's mum wants/needs something tasty & she won't be particularly fussed about the sugar content!
Drs spend about half an hour on that kind of stuff at Univesity. She should have seen a dietician.
but neither are 'granulated'
...but they are still sugar 😆
She should have seen a dietician.
stevenmenmuir, she saw one last week. they put her on the nhs stuff.
my sister got her some myprotein stuff today, from a local muscle shop 😆
and she likes it. vanilla flavour.
given the usual suggestions when people ask about protein supplements, I'm glad you told us it was for your mum.
It sounds like the usual concerns of sugar content etc are irrelevent. A smoothy with fruit might be sufficiently tasty to help her drink it. What jkomo and others suggested above...
Hmmm vanilla. If she has to go back to the dietitian then see if they have other things she can try. I've known a few in my time and they're normally pretty sympathetic and helpful.
Also, 0% fat Greek yogurt has 10% protein, could stick some almond butter and Greek honey for breakfast.
Go full fat for high calorie of course.
Then you've got Parmesan at 38% protein, for an easy savoury hit.
