What’s the general opinion ( obviously this is for the riders who use protein):

only have it on days that you’re riding or

take it every day regardless

I really like the sis recovery drink. Strawberry is best, then choc or banana.

I ride 40/50 miles on an average day so find this helps me keep going.

I’ve got back into weight training alongside cycling the last 2 weeks. I’m having a shake for breakfast everyday instead of cereal and feel better for it.

My shake is one scoop of my protein whey protein. 1 banana, half a scoop of porridge oats, 200ml water, splash of milk and 2 ice cubes. Guessing 300-400 calories (I haven’t weighed what half a scoop of oats comes to) ish for the whole thing.

I’ve been using hemp protein for years, so I’m sorted re the product. I just wanted to know people’s opinions re: only after workout, or every day regardless.

How often are you training / are you sore the day after exercising?

Also, what kind of cyclist are you - roadie racing whippet trying to keep power / weight high or just general cycling?

62 years old; mainly MTB (with a bit of roadie); no whippet; ride 3/4 times per week; anything from 15 mile plantation loops to 30/40 mile XC bash. Always 2000/3000 feet of climbing.

Do you need lots of protein additional to your diet to recover from those sort of rides? Mine is mainly to recover from weight training and stop me piling into too much cereal and take on more calories than required for breakfast. So far it’s filling me up enough to limit snacking until lunch.

I've been drinking an SIS Rego after turbo sessions. Feel it might be excessive but A) I enjoy it, B) Anything to avoid injuries etc and C) I feel I can afford the calories

Wondered if protein only would be better than a protein/carb mix, still have weight to lose!
