Hi all,
Just got some bargain 661 D30 elbow pads from Start Cycles.
I am aiming to push my riding and I will be entering the Hamsterly Enduro in Feb.
I have got a fairly expensive waterproof for defying the Winter with, and if possible would like not to kill it in my first few sessions . . .
So, Is it acceptable to wear elbow pads outside of your jacket or is it an unpardonable sin?
Thanks,
Si
The D3O pads I have need to be warm to be nice and flexible so best to wear them next to your skin
You'll look like a fanny but that's not actually important, mountain bikers spend half their time looking like fannies even when they think they look cool
I think in practice, they're likely to slide around more in a crash which is bad. And could end up pretty sweaty as they'll stop the jacket from breathing (assuming it's breathable). And as above, D30 is temperature sensitive though how much difference it makes to the protection I don't know.
If you're doing an enduro they'll be lots people dressed in stupid mismatched bright clothes anyway so you'll be the least of the worries for the real (non enduro) fashion police 🙂
Thanks for the replies. Looks like I will wear the pads next to my skin - I don't fancy the thought of them moving too much in a crash - I work physically for a living and don't want any enforced time off . . .
Just hope that there is no rain so that My ME Firefox does not come into the line of fire . . .
