out on tour yesterday and one fella had hired a brand spanking new RZ140 with a lefty fork. (is it still a fork despite the fact that it isn't forked?)

after about 15km he was elvising along the trail, his arse shaking from side to side. each of the spokes in the back wheel had worked loose and the wheel was flexing all over the show.

a bike that retails at over 3k and falls apart after 15km....

should you be having to rebuild a wheel on a new bike?

any other horror stories...?

You might want to edit the title while you have a chance.

My mate has had two Stumpjumpers with shocking wheels. On the last one he got the spokes in both wheels came loose after only a few rides.

Sounds like your friend may need to lose weight, he's too heavy for mountain bike wheels....NEXT!

I bought a Saracen Mantra Mk1 years ago from Evans in Croydon. 24x2.6" Nokian tyres, wide rims, looovely. I rode out of the shop, rode across the street and... walked back to the shop as the back wheel was buckled so badly it wasn't spinning. The guy in the shop looked at me and said "You shouldn't be jumping off kerbs, it's a mountain bike."
