Recently I heard of a large number of bikes being taken from people's garages in Edinburgh.

One guy I know of has been done over twice recently, believing the second time was to get the insurance replacements expected to be there.

Another I heard of via GFs parents was 10 bikes (and other stuff) going missing from a garage in Morningside. 10 bikes takes 10 people or a van to shift in my opinion

These were both within neighbouring areas and the last few weeks since Easter

Anyone heard of anything else recently?

Heard rumours of a targeted outfit in Midlothian recently, not too far from Morningside. Not good to hear.

There have been gangs in Edinburgh for years.
In the last month I know several people who have had their expensive bikes stolen.

I've double checked my insurance has me fully covered, just in case

One of the bikes stolen was an Ellsworth, can't quite remember the model but not many of them about

yep starting to feel like I'm in the minority in not having my bike stolen this year, several friends had flats, sheds and garages broken into in the last two months in Edinburgh as well as seeing posts on here and facebook groups. Seem to be some rumours going about regarding who is behind it but not convinced myself.

Jimbo don't tempt fate like that....go and touch some wood quickly. No, not that wood.

Sorry to tell you this but I was on a 'plane from Frankfurt to Belgrade last Sunday and got chatting about bikes with a young Serb lad next to me. Things were going fine until he boasted that one of his best mates in the town of Subotica sells bikes stolen in Europe.

I simply commented: "There's a lot of heartache behind every one of those stolen bikes" and went back to reading my Cycling Plus magazine.
