For all the consumers, what are your products of the year?

Mine:

1) XT brakes (from rose)
2) Kask k10 helmet, helmets can be comfortable all day
3) Hope's sh!t shifter, clean and lubed bike in under 10 minutes

Dunno about 'products of the year', but nicest bike thing I've bought this year was a Topeak ChainBot:

[img] [/img]

Beautiful design, quality materials, very well made and kind of a 'luxury' feel to it.

I don't need it, I will probably never use it for it's intended purpose tbh; I just bought it cos it looked lovely. 😆

I spose at £20 in a sale it's not the worst folly.

Yep, just need swapping over. If you search for the original thread someone has done a great photo walk-through.

Is the xtr + mech worth it then? Been very tempted, but can't really justify it at the moment.

With the Shadow+ mech my bike is eerily quiet most of the time. You still get a little bit of chain-slap on the real rough stuff, I haven't dropped the chain since fitting it though.

Works Components head angle reducers, they've let me make my bikes ride like I want them to ride. (and the 2 of them combined cost less than one uberhypey Cane Creek Angleset, and work better to boot)

Specialized Hillbilly tyre... Because I object to cutting down new tyres.

Altura Attack waterproof shorts- instant cure for trenchcock.

X 10 mini pro. Great wee phone thats kept me amused for hours. Bike stuff - probably a set of Easton vice bars or a wee bit of the bike works time spent on my bike. I love getting my bike back off them.

bigthunder - I sent a X 10 mini pro back! I found browsing the web on it a terrible experience. It's also quite chunky and wasn't as small as I thought.

Things that have stood out for me this year:
1. G-Spot frame. It's been a more versatile bike than I ever expected and I've just really enjoyed riding it. I hit that lucky combination of bike, terrain and rider matching well.
2. New Camelbak resovoir. So much less hassle every morning. Small things but a big effect on my life compared to the older ones.
3. Shimano XT. The shifting has been perfect all year, I've not adjusted it at all. A big improvement for me coming from SRAM. The XT brakes are impressing me a lot as well but they've 'only' done a couple of months so are not fully tested yet.

not one product but my bottlerocket is getting closer to the perfect bike for me. rolling weight is cut without losing strenghth etc...going tubeless has been brilliant as i can feel the trail more and at 33lbs it rides like its way less. 🙂

BENDER FENDER.

Bender fender indy review

After some serious consideration we awarded the bender fender our product of the year award.

Never before in the field of muddy fields has so much been achieved by so little at less than a tenner.

Mod not; available form a few good shops, not just from me.

Or nothing at all, if you make one out of a plastic milk bottle. 😉

Great idea though, and very effective. Good call.

No mention of the Reverb yet?

That or my Mondraker Dune for me. Or both together really I suppose.

I agree with bender fenders and the clutches on rear mechs. Will swap from Sram to Shimano next time I bend one if Sram don't bring one out.

Skilz Courses - not sure whether they're a product as such, but I think, like most everyone else it seems, that Jedi's bang for the buck is pretty much unbeatable in terms of mountainbiking money spent.

bbg bashguards. For 90% of riders all you need for a bashguard or single ring chain guide, but at a tenner or so posted from the US.

Oh aye, Bender Fenders really are brilliant little things... Sure you can make your own, but they work perfectly and aren't too expensive (the production cost must be about 10% of ****-all mind). Mine have just come off for the winter (Shockboards go on) but what a difference they make.

As a consumer too in my off duty mode...

1. XT Brakes. Very impressive.
2. Iodine saddle - my arse now loves me again and no need for a chamois.
3. STILL Dakine 8 Track shorts. 4 years old and they just won't die... they are therefore my product of the year 2007-2011.

thebikechain - what saddles were you using before the Iodine if you don't mind me asking? Just in the market for a nice comfy perch for some road winter mileage.

My other one is a B17 - once again - used without chamois.

Also using a Gusset R Series/Velo tartan jobbie.

They all work for me.
Prologo nor Fizik Gobi's do me any good.
Not sure the Iodine would make a good road saddle though... bit flexy.

Try the Gusset models. Nice.
