Some help please - I have a Whyte T129RS 2016. Drivetrain knackered so I have purchased a new XT rear mech and shifter, a Suntour 12 speed cassette plus a new chainring. On fitting the rear mech it has become obvious that the mech will not get close to aligning with the 50 sprocket on the cassette. The screw is fully slackened off and it is still about 1-2mm from the correct position. 11 sprocket is OK. Just swapping the hanger just in case but any other ideas?

Is that when shifted by hand on the mech or with the cable/shifter?
Assume extra link removed and mounted directly?

Was the old mech a direct mount type? i.e 11 speed XT
If so the mech-hanger is meant for direct mount mechs and new 12 speed is a non-direct mount type.
This was the problem i had.

Wot Trek said. If so, you'll need a different hanger to get it working.

Old one was cut 11 speed direct. So hangar is the issue assuming Whyte do one 🤞

so the hanger change did not work, I have asked Whyte about a different hanger and await a reply.......

But if they don't make one.... Any other work around to make it work/get it fitted.

Of the two 5mm bolts, you unscrew the lower one and remove the short link above it.
Leave the link on for SRAM/traditional hangers, remove for Shimano DM type hangers.

That pic up there is an 11spd rear mech, not an 8100.

Had a chat to the designer at Whyte - turns out the hangar is direct mount and all the new 12-speed stuff is not that standard so I need a different hangar. All ordered so hopefully that will sort the issue!
