[Closed] Pro2vs SP Dynamo Hub Spacing Issues?

Hi,

I have 15x100 spacing on the front of my Pipedream, and have been using Hope Pro2 hubs on Gigantex carbon rims for a while with 6 bolt discs and Hope X2 brakes.

Now, I bought an 15x100 SP centre-lock dynamo hub built into a WTB i35 rim, thinking the wheel would slot straight in. While everything's fine at the hub, all of a sudden the caliper is rubbing on the spokes of this new wheel. I've not changed anything else, only dropped the current wheel out and put this new one in.

It seems this WTB i35 rim is asymetrical, would that matter? Is centrelock spacing different to 6 bolt?

Any help is appreciated, I'm a bit stumped!

Have you tried adjusting the brake so it clears the spokes but does not rub ?

Swapping wheels will often need a little tweak off the gears or brake

Not yet, waiting for an adapter to arrive tomorrow to pop my 6 bolt disc onto the new wheel. The caliper's already pretty far outboard. Time for some fettling.

I do have a spare Spank rim with the same amount of holes as the troublesome one (but isn't asymetric) so worst case scenario I can have the hub rebuilt onto the Spank rim.

I had a similar issue with TRP Spyre brakes and SP hub.

It's probably a wide brake calliper causing the issue more than the rim.

I think i ended up spacing the disc out slightly, but that was a 6 bolt hub, you can't do that with CL I think

Not ideal, don't really want to be switching out the brakes. Hoping there might be a way to space the hub in with the new rim to clear the caliper if there isn't something I've missed in the setup.

Had a similar issue with a SON dynamo hub on our tandem. The large flanges on the hub changed the spoke angle just enough to catch the caliper, which didn't happen with the Pro2 hub on the usual front wheel. Spacing the rotor out solved the problem.

Going to a larger rotor (and using the required calliper adapter) will likely solve the issue.

Of course, you'd likely want another larger rotor for your other wheelset too.

That is a damn fine idea @scotroutes!

Thanks all, I've got the centrelock to 6 bolt adapter this morning so going to fit up the current 160mm rotor and see if the caliper has any more movement outboard to clear the spokes. Otherwise, bigger disc and adapter.

Cheers!

Also had problems with TRP Spyres and the SP hub. I spaced the rotor out from the hub with some shims so it jsut cleared. Not ideal if you're reguarly swapping wheels - on another bike I can swap between SP hub and a Bitex one without having to adjust the Rival caliper at all.
