Ardent Race on the front, same rear I think

Rear doesn't look like an ardent race, and certainly isn't an ikon or Aspen, new prototype tyre?

Yeah just read this morning it’s an unnamed prototype

Ive waited for mtb etap but that shifter is nasty , I’m guessing use a blip box in the stem maybe and just a button by the grips.

But will have to wait and see that sram release

I thought the point of electronics on bikes were to make things discrete and out the way.....

Small discreet buttons are great at Bespoked.

I imagine when breathing through every orifice whilst being shaken to bits in an XC race you just want great big impossible to miss paddles.

He wants to be careful, if someone sees that picture, they might assume that their XC race whippet is suitable for jumps on simple XC graded trails. And we’ve all seen what can happen there...

Didn't see too many in the pics, just big balls and talent.

Surprised someone hasn't built a carbon dropper yet, its not like suspension where friction and heat build up, and sliding carbon stanchions have been done. It'd be expensive, but I imagine there'd be enough people that would pay a premium for it (or go back to a lighter and simpler gravity dropper style post).

similar to the mtb Di2 - i don't get why they try and replicate a standard cable shifter, when they could do anything

Probably because in their minds they've perfected the ergonomics of the shifter, so why change it and make something people aren't used to?

That wet woodwork on bald XC race tyres was fricking lethal though! Anne Tauber took an absolute slammer on it, ouch!

Whoever thought that woodwork covered in chicken mesh in those conditions was a good idea needs their head looking at. You could hear Anne’s scream from here!

That particular corner which claimed a few riders was a 90 degree bend falling camber over an 8 inch step down onto more wood.  A recipe for disaster in the wet.

Fantastic coverage of the cutting edge kit on PB. Every time I see these XC bikes I want one, then I remember I hate hard tails and feel sad.
Hmmm. Now a rigid fork...

Don't be daft, they're bloody ace and way more capable, even under a normal rider that you'd first think.

Oh, I know that. I just find hardtails unbalanced in my world. Rigid - yes, squidgy at both ends - great. Squidgy at one end - no.
Just me, not a reflection on the bikes.

They damp down unwanted skull vibrations to improve mental focus.

A new version of the isospeed, maybe with a longer split top tube?

The old one is ~5 years old now.

Looks like it's got a bottom pivot then relies on the flex of the stays? Does look nice though.

Interesting! Cheers.

Not sure if I like it or if I think it's overly complicated for a 'more or less' softail.

How much rear travel on that, 25mm? Looks mint! Now if only I was 35yrs younger ...

Makes sense. The Top Fuel isn't really racy enough now. The Procaliber is really a hardtail, that looks like it may actually have a reasonable amount of travel. Iso Strut by the looks of it. I reckon there's a BB pivot.

Did find it funny yesterday when Rob Warner and Bart Brentjens questioned Kate Courtneys decision to race a hardtail as Jolanda Neff was on her FS for Pauline Ferrand Prevot to win on her hardtail. Good sprint to the finish though.

Definitely seems to be a BB pivot. 65mm would be great for xc bridleway mile-munching (most of my riding) as well as racing. Trying to see if there is a lockout (not convinced you'ld need one)... can't quite make it out in the pics

There's a cable in the second photo so I'd assume there's a remote lockout.

Looks expensive 🙁

Homemade droppers are teh shizzle!

Not homemade, 240g and 1049 euros!

https://bikerumor.com/2018/05/23/jbg2-dps-claims-to-be-worlds-lightest-dropper-post-at-240g/

One of our suppliers does carbon tubes, made on a mandrell but which can be ground down to whatever dimensions you want. Wonder how easy that would be to DIY, or at least replace the inner and outer tube on a gravity dropper.

The Salsa Spearfish is pretty much the standard for long distance, mile munching, bikepacking style races and that has an 80mm rear shock (might be a bit more on the latest version) so 65mm ain't bad. There's a lot more room in the main triangle as well, my Spearfish can only fit a tiny frame bag in there.

I’m surprised at the limited info bearing in mind he first google of “Trek Supercalibre” gets you various shop hits with a various specs, prices and build kits - albeit out of stock.

Was interesting to hear Rob Warner congratulating the Scott team mechanics for a rapid rear wheel change on Ninos burped tyre, 27 seconds he timed it at. Ninos reply was that it was actually quite slow because Yannick can actually do it in 18 seconds!
