Hi,
Does anyone know if the left hand spacer from a 135x12mm hub is the same as an X12 142. Assuming they are otherwise there might be problems with the disc.

I don't think it would be the same length. The 142 mm standard is based on the 135 mm hub but is 3.5 mm longer each side so the end caps slot into the frame drop outs. 142 mm uses the same hub centre as 135 mm axle.

Like awh said its 3.5 mm longer.
the x12 ones dont have the rough surface area on the ends either.
