Thinking about going alloy for my next trail bike. Privateer 141 looks like amazing value and reviews seem universally positive. But what's it like to live with? Does that weight become a pain over time? Do the bearings hold up? Does anything rub where it shouldn't? Good and bad experiences are really useful, thanks.
Did you see there was another review of this by off.road.cc a couple of days ago? They like it a lot, just as mbr, Bikeradar and others did…I’m sure you’ve read the reviews.
I don’t own one so have little to add that you don’t already know but I thought the ‘designed by riders’ mantra means it should (or at least is intended to) be very easy to live with.
I’ve had some heavy bikes in the past (transition smuggler for example) but if they’re well designed and have decent wheels you don’t tend to notice IMHO
Had mine around 6-7 months. All the bike I need and then some. Climbs well for its weigh but its more a plodder than a sprinter! I can get up most of Calderdale's steeps anyway. Brilliant on the descents too once you're used to keeping your weight further forward. Rides local tech/lakes/peaks/Alps/BPW ect and the only major issue I've had was the rear wheel spokes kept slackening off which led to a cracked rim (hunt trailwides) And think the mechs bent now but that could happen to any bike TBH!
Obligatory pic cos its a handsome thing 😀

I’ve had mine for 6 months, about 900 miles and 160,000ft of descending. Mostly straight up and straight down type of stuff up in the NE of Scotland.
The only issue has been the rear wheel spoke tension that requires constant attention (Hunt Trailwides).
The reviews definitely mirror what I think about mine. Probably the most balanced bike I’ve ridden.
5’9” on a P2 seems to suit me well
In the wilds:

The Ohlins version looks mint. That's the one I'd have.
Never even seen one in the flesh mind!
