My brother is on holiday and has just had 4 valves fail on him in one ride. The tubes will be a variety of brands so I'm assuming it must be wheel related.
It was fine in the alps but now he is in a hotter place they've gone silly. He's had the bike a year with no problems.
Anyone had similar issues?
Valve core falling out or the whole thing getting cut off at the valve hole?
Is the tyre rotating on the rim and dragging the inner tube with it? Bit of talc on the tube may help.
The whole valve. Shall send him off to Le hypermarket for some talc.
Been there, done that! And now only use Schrader valves, for this very reason.
Google "tyre creep" for more information.
As above - talc will sort that out.
Although I think talc is now banned and likened to a WMD?
I keep a secret bottle of Johnson and Johnson locked in the bike cellar, awaiting UN weapons inspectors any second.
I love this. A seasonal topic just like the ones where people’s freewheels freeze up in winter.
What should it happen more when warm?
What should it happen more when warm?
yes. it happens when it’s warm and dry.
Can't say I've ever had this issue, maybe a lot depends on how grippy the inside of the tyre is.
I tend to use the screw on valve collars/washers on the outside of the rim.. Not sure whether that helps or not.
Never had an issue with presta tubes. As the previous poster suggested I always use the washers.
