Anyone care to recommend an inflator with a presta head for use with a compressor? Something like the ParkTool INF-2 but not that because it’s awful.

I have a Draper one but it’s schrader and requires the use of an adapter that is always awkward to get a good seal on so I’m after something with a proper presta head if poss…

Sorry, on the PC now so can post links properly

Yes I saw that but it gets mixed reviews on Amazon...

Prestacycle

There is also the Jaco one which gets better reviews but requires an additional £50 attachment..

Just wondered if anyone had experience of any and wanted to recommend..

I have a cheapo inflator, probably similar to your draper, but have cut the schrader fitting off and put on a track pump fitting. You can buy them as a spare part

I’ve been using a cheapo blue trigger one with a Joe Blow hose grafted on. It works, but it leaks and I’ve had to replace the hose several times now. I decided I was going to treat myself to a ‘proper’ one so watching this thread with interest.

I once bought a Prestaflator and was underwhelmed with how it felt so sent it back. Didn’t actually use it though.

@bikerevivesheffield can you post a link? Can’t work out what you mean. Edit: oh I see what you mean. Not what I need unfortunately.

I’m tempted to try attaching a track pump head but I CBA with leaks and I don’t want one that’s a two/three handed operation to attach. Largely because the hose on the end of the (heavy) inflator is short so always ends up clanking the wheel.

How does yours work @bikerevivesheffield ?

This. I got a cheap one from Screwfix, cut the original head off and attached an SKS head.
Plug and play, as they say.

@oceanskipper

The compressor head has a Schrader attachment as on @kayak23 picture. This goes onto the black bit next to the dial. The hose is presta or Schrader

I’m using a pump head from Decathlon on mine and no leaks. Just cut the old crappy standard fitting off.

I have that SKS head and it's crap for seating tyres as when you take the presta value core out it constantly switches to schrader mode.

The simple blower head for the compressor is best for seating tyres once you have the valve core out

I looked & looked years ago and messed around with various bodges but then bought an Airshot bottle and haven't used the compressor since.

If I was buying again I'd get the all-in-one track pump & air chamber.

Simple and works. Lack of a gauge is slightly annoying but for getting tubeless seated/inflated it just does the job and is a sensible price.

Like others I put a standard track pump head on a cheap compressor tyre gun, couldn't work better tbf and cost me peanuts. But you do need to find a combination of parts that'll play ball, unfortunately bike pumps quite often don't use normal air threads or hoses

So what’s the best head? Ideally a one handed operation or at the very least one that doesn’t snap closed when releasing and bludgeon your fingers every time without fail like my rubbish Beto one!!’ 🙄

I assume you're only looking for one to facilitate beading a tubeless tire?

If so, like Nick above, a blow gun is the best thing. Remove the valve core and trigger the largely unrestricted air in through the valve.

I use a mega cheap plastic one with the metal end snapped off and it's brilliant. The snapped off metal end is the same diameter as the end of a presta valve stem so fits perfectly.

You don't even loose much pressure in the time it takes to put the core back in if you use your thumb as a temporary plug then go back to the pressure you want with a track pump.

Trouble is that Reserve Fillmore valves don’t have a removable core..

Just the rubber hose works great for presta and nothing to constrict the airflow like track pump heads can do.

I put a track pump head onto a car schraeder inflator by unscrewing the normal hose and screwing in an air gun blower tube. The track pump head slid onto that metal tube and a jubilee clip secures it. Means I get the PSI rating too, although it's not the most reliable

scruff, that sounds like a genius idea!

I've been using an old track pump head and a cheapo Erbuaer gun but I can't get the damn thing to be leakfree, plus the head needs replacing.

I’ve always used one of those cheap brass adaptors. Or failing that a little bit of rubber over the valve to make it thicker.

The stupid schrader clippy thing on the Draper is a PITA to fix on to those brass adapters. That’s where I’m at now.
