You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My current bike has a PF92 bottom bracket which is creaking and needs replaced and I’m also building up a big dog and need to press the headset in (zs44/ec44).
Thought I might just get the LBS to do it but if there’s a press that would do the job on both and doesn’t cost the earth then I’d have a go myself. Budget probably £40?
Anything out there?
Couple of options - buy a headset press kit and then the pf92 cups separately - https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/lifeline-x-tools-headset-press-workshop-tool/rp-prod10225
Or buy the BB press (I've just bought this one, seems very well made) and then the headset press cups separately - https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/lifeline-x-tools-press-fit-bb-installer/rp-prod155423
I don't have headset or BB presses but have some normal bearing presses from BearingProTools and they're excellent, you mind find what you need. I'll be buying a headset press when I need one.
I got a small selection of the bearingpro tools, recommended and pretty cheap once you work out exactly what you need.
You can mix and match the presses with the different drifts, I think the headset press is longest, but it was cheaper to get the handles with the BB press I think?
Bookmarking that BearingProTool site, they have bearing press kits for individual frames which is awesome.
Thanks for advice. Went for the park option in the end as just seemed like it would cover more bases and so better long term investment and the other options weren’t that much cheaper once you’d put together all the bits needed
