Hi folks, just booked a week in Garda at the end of August and given that some of the descents are super rocky and technical I want to build up my strength to prevent hand soreness, arm pump, sore calves etc on some of these super long and rocky descents.
If you had a month to get ready what sort of regime would you employ?
Also, taking my Santa Cruz Hightower 2020 with me, will i be underbiked? My mate is taking his Liteville 601.

99.9% of the bikes and riders I saw last year were on short travel xc bikes and full lycra. Didn't see a "big" bike once. I hired a 140mm Cannondale thing and it was absolutely fine.
Bob, did you do the 601 or coast trail? How was it?
It's rocky, and can be very rocky. Some of the views are so good that you'll want to stop though, a chance to shake things out.
There's a Liteville dealer in Torbole.
If you wear arm pads, make sure they aren't too tight. A Powerball or other grip strength gizmo might be useful, but really you've just got to ride.
But it isn't a race (?) Just take some time and enjoy it.
You do see quite a few DH bikes on the shuttles, but I've never used one. Blur LT2 and a Meta AM have been plenty enough.
the best advice I've had to stop arm pump was to move my brake levers inboard to allow one finger braking (from Jedi/Tony)

So much to ride, but yes, generally rocky. Lots of tech, too.
Most of the trails were hewn out of the rock by soldiers during WWI and are usually just narrow enough to get a loaded donkey up and down them.
Some great riding on each side of the lake and more so in the hinterland.
Arm pump is pretty much a given if you're gunning it.
