You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Have used these guys a lot recently, if you do a lot of fettling or are trying to achieve some weird combination of components on a bike, there's a good chance they'll have the part you need!
Most recently - decent spec 25.4mm clamp stem and handlebars to match, 'midi' v-brakes that still work with road levers but are longer than standard 'mini' v-brakes, 30mm tall carbon fibre top cap to replace the god-awful looking integrated spacers that came with my Rose Xeon road bike, and most recently adaptors to convert a Hope PF41 BB to GXP.
Shame they don't often seem to come up on Google searches, I was contemplating ordering the BB adaptor from either Tweekz or Rutland Cycling, neither of whom I've ever used and both of whom looked awfully like Tredz/Triton Cycles clones, i.e. the 'if our supplier has stock, we have stock' business model... Thankfully I remembered to check SJS who had the stock so I can rest easy that it will actually be delivered when they say it will.
I think i bought a Charge Cooker from them.... Was all good.
Years ago (probably 1997 or 98) I called into the shop in Bridgwater with a specific query and I was taken outback into the range of sheds to delve deep into the shelving and boxes of stuff.
They carry a lot of stuff, but also seem to know about them as well unlike some shops.
SJS are great, they have a lot of stuff although the prices are a bit "pre internet".
Still, if you're after a spare part from a brand they stock and value your time, they're pretty much guaranteed to have it in stock.

Yeah, I'd noticed they're always a bit pricier than the competition, but it seems an entirely fair trade-off for the amount they actually stock! Must be a nightmare to keep track of and store.
one of the few places that actually stock a decent array of 'spare parts' rather than 'replacement components'
ie: you can buy a replacement cage plate for your Shimano mech, or a shifter bottom cover, or 'a' cone for your hub etc. Just need to know your part numbers...
Yep, an amazing amount of stock and knowledge coupled with a prompt and reliable delivery service, I've long been a fan! 🙂
Have we forgiven them for the middleburn price hike scandal yet?
Got there first, Stevet1!
Ha, I seem to remember giving them the benefit of the doubt for that one, as I didn't need or want any Middleburn, and hoped it would suppress the prices of the random bits'n'bobs I did want... 8)
in 10 year time it's where I expect to be getting my 26 inch rims and 135 mm qr hubs and 9 speed cassettes 😉
I love that when I want some, say, Shimano road QR's, I can choose from about 50 different versions. For a kit geek like me it's like heaven.
SJS sell a lot of the weird spares that Shimano list but noone else sells. e.g. a replacement clutch for an M9000 XTR rear mech 🙂
Tweeks are good, they're an offshoot of Demon Tweeks who've been around for years and years. Rutland are ok to buy from, I've heard they're crap for returns though, I had a bike from them, came quickly with no issues.
But back the the OP, SJS are amazing for weird little odds and sods, if not always particularly cheap.

Hmm, OK, I was put off by Google reviews. I don't pay too much heed to the star ratings, but there were a few tales of ordering things only to find out Rutland/Tweeks didn't actually hold stock and were waiting for it from their supplier, a practice that annoys me waaaayyy more than it probably should. Either way I have my own little blacklist of online stores who do it, Tredz and Triton being two proven culprits so far.
...from either Tweekz or Rutland Cycling, neither of whom I've ever used and both of whom looked awfully like Tredz/Triton Cycles clones
For balance I've ordered from (and visited) Tweeks many times and even bought a bike from them, no problems at all.
Surprised you've had probs with Rutland and Triton.
Do they still sell bags of nuts n' bolts that they've swept up off the workshop floor?
I am a bike shop whore - I'll use whoever is cheapest. I quite like Tredz and they've been reasonably reliable. The only one where I'll really pay a premium is for Wiggle's next day delivery, which you can order up to 10pm - got me out of many a late night spannering issue, I can tell you!
Winstanley's is one that I've used a few times but rarely appears in the search list. Not quick to deliver, but I've had really cheap Hope stuff from them in the past.
yes, SJS always seem to stock the random bits you need. Great if you like to build your own bikes up
Great since they removed the minimum postage charge (used to be £5). My first port of call for anything esoteric.
I think it was SJS where I went looking for v-brake noodles with barrel adjusters, for a hybrid drop conversion, and not only did they have them they had a selection.
Yep - weird shaped bars for the back of an xtracycle no problem
I am pretty sure there is portal from the back of my shed to the SJS warehouse. The amount of times they have the bits I need that I am sure I have safely stored somewhere if only I could lay my hands on it. P&P seem reasonable for the bits I was ordering too.
Aside from their ability to stock stuff that no-one else does, they've gone above and beyond on customer service often enough for me that they're one of my go-to shops regardless of price.
Unfortunatly they gave my email address to a third party without my permission and refused to apologise despite the breach of the data protection act so I will never use them again.
Top guys, friendly and knowledgeable on the phone. I only use them for the obscure stuff, so can live with the price no always being 'discount'. Often wondered how long they will last, but they keep on rolling.

Tweeks are usually pretty good - if they don't have it it'll say usually available in X number of days.
Tredz caught me out with a light - it showed as in stock but they needed to order it in and the distributor didn't have any. Even after I pointed it out, it was still shown as in stock.
SJS do have a hell of a stock of random bits.
