Hi guys,
The rear triangle on my bike is starting to look very tatty from use, transport and storage and I am thinking about getting it powder coated (alloy rear triangle/carbon front). The main frame is red with black detailing but I would just go for a full red rear triangle rather than messing about getting the detailing done again.
My question is can you match powder coat to its the same as the front triangle or is it basically just one colour with no leeway and what is the approx cost to get a rear triangle done?
Hoping its a reasonably easy and cheap way to freshen the bike up before sale in the spring time. I would like to get the carbon frame touched up but costs seem OTT for the same of it.
Thanks in advance
Pretty sure you can ask for RAL coded colours, so if you can find out the code from the manufacturer then you can pass that on. Otherwise go into one with your frame and they should have samples.
One in Birmingham I go to has hundreds of metal discs with all the colours on so it's good to get an idea.
If just do it black. If the red turns out a slightly different colour it'll look odd, red front and back rear make a nice combination.
Even if you find the code for the front it’s still got X years of abuse and fading - could look shit as above
I will have a chat and see what they think, the frame is only a 2017 so not too faded/worn.
Personally I think the red would look better but could always go with black and fit some red decals.
Quick question, there is a small dent on one of the seat stays. Is there a way of 'filling' this before being powder coated?
Here is a pic of the frame:
