I remember reading a thread a while back about the powder coating of Aluminium frames. There seemed to be some debate as to whether the heat treatment would be adversely affected.
Can anyone remember if there was a "definitive" answer?
Doubt, only talking 180 degrees.
I'd be more worried about a quality finish, if you find a flawless coater let me know, I'm now talking to a fourth company as a potnetial supplier. Apparent defects visible at five metres are perfectly acceptable.
Armourtex in Clapton, Hackney have a very good reputation and can do a vast range of colours. Full strip, prime, coat and lacquer for £65. All the trendy fixie riders get their bikes done there. Apparently one of the guys there is a cyclist himeself, so they know how to treat bikes properly. They strip alu frames chemically. The heat they use to cure the paint isn't high enough to cause any problems.
I've just had mine done and its pretty perfect to be honest. It was anodised prior to getting it done which made it all the more difficult.
Well impressed.
Geordiepaul, I assume you are in Newcastle. Where did you get yours done?
Sorry didn't see this post...
Stella Blast, it's in Pelton near Chester Le Street cost me a mere £40 and it's better than new. Mail me if you want details...
