Just got new project and going to get the frame powder coated. Having seen the new covert I'm rather taken with the idea of getting it done in a fluo. Anyone done this? Got any pics to share?

Alternatively any pics of your re-coated bikes (any colour) for inspiration?

RAL erm, yellow? (Done by Triple-S in Bingley - had two frames done by them now and they're superb).

Bournes in Birmingham if you're nearby. First frame I've ever had coated so wasn't sure what to expect, seems a decent enough job though 🙂

RAL 5001 (Antique White), I think, with a gloss / glitter lacquer over the top:

Flouro colours are few and far between. Not many will carry them in stock. There are some very bright yellows (ral 1016). At one point we used to do flip flop colours bit like klien used to use but not used any for ages. I'll make some enquiries and see if any of our suppliers do flouro's. The one above is more likely to be ral 9001 as 5001 is blue. Any questions i'll try to help.( I have owned a powder coating business for 20 years).

Very interested in this thread.. Got a project of my own on the go but don't know who to trust.
Any body know of quality powder coaters in East anglia.. (preferably with experience of bike jobs).
Might give Triple S a look but would prefer not to post etc.

Teamslug do you powdercoat MTB's??
Keep the pictures coming 🙂

I wouldn't get too hung up on powdercoat - round here (Bristol), loads of us use a local enammel place and the paint is very tough.

FWIW, purple FTW 🙂

Teamslug that's great, I'd really appreciate that. Is there a ral-1026 coating? My old man home powder coats his fishing weights in fluo (its different I know) but I knew such things must exist.

Not set on fluo but I've fancied it on a bike since I saw it on the early 90's alpinestars and the new covert looks lovely.

Another vote for Triple-S. Had a frame done there and it was a superb job. Recommended to a few friends and they're very happy with the results as well.

They have fluro orange as a stock colour as I was going to get my 5 done in it. Think Dyno-Rod orange and you'll not be far off.

Had mine done at Planet Wheels in Walsall Wood.

Very pleased with the outcome, std black with a load of metallic put in the laquer so it sparkles a treat in the sunshine

In reply to garriparate I cant find ral 1026 on my colour charts or stock sheets. I'm guessing its a yellow but what sort of shade?.The colour will exist but if there is no demand the powder manufacturing companies won't make it.

Theocb...yes we do MTB's...we work more on the industrial side of things but as its my hobby/obsession and I know what frames mean to folks I like to take care with them when we do coat them.Main issues are making sure pivot/bearing/headset holes are covered cos it can be a b@&^%$d to sort afterwards

I'm in the process of looking at doing custom paint jobs, as in the kind of thing you see on lorries with airbrushes etc. I have also sourced a powder coating process that looks like a wood finish too....beech finish bike anyone!!!!

Happy to answer any questions/resolve probs for you.

God know what RAL this is (if it's even a RAL).

It's grey with micro gold bits, quite rough like a frying pan with added sparkle.

Incredibly tough so far, even though it's on top of chrome plating.

Maldon Shotblasting & Powder Coating has a steady stream of high end road and mountain bike framesets in for a makeover. They even offer and collect and deliver service.

No, it's a whipperman 1Z1 anti-rust chain, looks a bit darker now, nearly 5 years later but not much.

Teamslug it's listed as ral luminous yellow, the frame I posted above is supposed to have been done in ral1026. Do you know of any equivalent colours?

Had mine done the other year, its actually silver with a red lacquer so when the sun hits the frame it has a nice depth and a sparkle. Plus I was only charged £30 for coating which I thought was great value.
