I'm not organised enough to host/post a photo, but I think I have a crack adjacent to a weld near the top of the swingarm on a 2005 Giant Reign. I'm suspiscious as the previous swingarm cracked at this point (although that was after a numpty that I'd lent the bike to rode it with a bolt missing from the other side, putting all the force through one side of the swingarm).

Can anyone recommend a suitable place to fix it? Ideally not mega-bucks, as it is a 9 year old frame, but I do love riding it.

Don't Giant offer a lifetime warranty on frames? Mate had a 10yr old road bike which cracked at the rear dropout and got a replacement FOC.

I think it is 5 years for full-sus frames. I'm in central Scotland, so Sheffield is a bit far, although the swingarm shou be easy to post.

Would anyone be likely to be able to re-heat-treat?

seriously we use 3 companies to heat treat stuff up to t6 condition for a one off its cheaper to buy a swingarm from giant the Min for em to fire up a furnace is 300 quid and then also you will have the issue your swingarm will not be straight anymore ,they take it up to solution then quench it

you have to have a jig to hold stuff straight or put in some time with holts to perfect the process this means they give us a 24 hour window of opportunity to align and straighten before setting in stone after that its pretty much off to the ovens again for solution treating
