I have a few nice bars amongst bits and pieces I was going to flog, but all the prices I can find for posting seem to have limits of 50 or 60cm lengths (like post office or Collect +), otherwise it's really expensive like Parcelforce which then makes it not worth it and puts potential buyers off. Post office parcel prices have gone silly since April. They don't weigh much obviously. There must be a cheaper way (other than cutting down...), anyone know? ta
My Hermes. . Use their drop off points
I have a few bars myself and noted the restrictions on medium parcel size by the Post Office. However it does say...
Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels
For rolled and cylinder shaped items, the length of the item plus twice the diameter must not exceed 104cm, with the greatest dimension being no more than 90cm. Rolled and cylinder shaped parcels that measure up to 45cm in length and 8cm in diameter and do not exceed 2kg can be sent as small parcels.
and I wondered if bars could be packed as cylinders? 😕
I sold some bars recently, £12 I sold em for and took em to royal mail. £11.97 they wanted to post them and that was the cheapest option. Ended up dropping it off at a My hermes point for £3.... its only a matter of time til royal mail completely close themselves down with their recent price changes etc.
^ had the same experience as GC but with a bit of wind turbine.
the couriers with drop off options make it much easier. It's just a same my local village shop which has the PO in the back cannot act as an agent for couriers as well as have a PO.
Thanks all, I'll try the straight bars as a tube at the PO and see how it goes, if not (and for riser bars) I'll try My Hermes. Even the staff in my local PO feel really awkward about what they have done with their pricing structure
The PO have lost the plot entirely with regards to pricing. Only use them for letters now, all else goes via my local McCoys at half price. No queue, way cheaper and stuff gets there the next day via a tracked service. What's not to like?
