Go on parcel2go, I recently sent a frame to spain for £35 collect and insured via parcel force, this is not far off the UK price, so I would go there first (parcel2go).

Parcel2go - put in box dimensions, weight and destination and get a proper quote...

Parcel2go.... get a quote off their site for each of the carriers and then book directly with the carrier. Waited 2 days in this week (my weekend) for them to collect - no show on the first day via parcelforce, rearranged and no show on the second day.

If you ask for a refund, there is a dropdown menu to give a reason why you want a refund - the first option is "Multiple failed collections"

Says it all.

I just took it the Post Office once i rejigged it into a smaller box, £5 cheaper too.
