Who's the STW-recommended courier of choice for posting a bike internationally?

I'm fairly OK with UK options but keen to explore if I could offer a bike for sale with shipping beyond the UK. Tried a quote though https://sendbike.com/ (random find via Google) and was £185 for a fairly typical 158 x 76 x 24cm box (3.6m overall girth), weight 30kg, with insurance to £2.5k, to Germany. Service was using DHL economy, 3 business days. No idea if that quote's good, bad or indifferent?

I'm aware I could enable the 'worldwide shipping' box (or whatever its called) on eBay and list it there and let eBay take care of it all, but I've had good success selling via non-eBay channels in the past.

Recommendations and tales of your experiences welcomed.

Hey Ally,

Did you get  anywhere with this? I'm looking to ride in Nepal this year, take my own bike but travel onto Asia and ship my bike back to the UK. Quotes on sendmybike are around £700 depending on the exact size of the box.

Anyone found any alternatives or shipped a bike home before? any recommended couriers / services out there? Local Nepalese couriers are looking for around 1000 USD.

Thanks,

Just remember you/receiver will be liable for import duties and taxes in many places, even if second hand.

Ask me how I know...
