I'm luck to live in a place with a number of great rides on my doorstep. Unfortunately these come with large helpings of mud.
When I get back I usually throw buckets of water at my bike (and myself) to get the thick of it off. I then sponge the rest off and dry the drive train with paper towels. every few rides I will degrease and lube the chain.
The neighbors already think I'm odd got using a toothbrush to clean the bike.
What' your post ride routines?
Hang bike up in garage, go in house, have shower
Take shoes and socks off, laugh at clean feet and muddy legs.
Hose+bike then inside on a mat in the utility room with the dehumidifier on next to it.
Next day, wipe down, WD40 the chain (to displace any water) and check to see if it needs lube before being hung in the workshop.
Pre-ride - again check lube, check shifting and brakes, use Bronx on suspension stanchions.
Spray off with Mobi, chuck bike in boot...Eat Cake and drink coffee.
Slaughter a goat and smear the still warm blood on the handlebars whilst chanting a prayer to Baphomet.
Or hose the bike down, sling my kit in the washing machine and have a shower.
All depends on my mood really.
On the way home the local polish car cleaning lads will usually jet the bike of if it's super muddy. If not, I just go home, stretch, pop the bike away or make any changes while I remember them and that's it.
Hang bike in garage.
Take clothes off in adjoining utility room.
Have shower.
I find the bike copes with getting the dried mud knocked off it once in a while.
Upload ride to Strava, find table in cafe close to other unsuspecting cyclists and talk as loudly as I can about my times, number of PRs and how anyone faster than me must be on an e-bike...
Why would anyone do anything else 😕
Yup, I'm also barred from the house with my muddy clothes on. The garage is a cold cold place in the winter, not that I'm making excuses...
