Blatantly I'm seeking single life

This weekend after roughly a year of debating, I spent the majority of our savings on a bike and accessories, after not pedalling for roughly 13 years.
She was fully aware of my interest, and I know I had her support for buying one, but the "WHEN" had not been mentioned as of yet

Personally I think at the age of 31 I can make these decisions on my own

She however, will probably disagree

How do I confess

Someone tell me the best approach please!!!

A soon to be single new rider

So you spent joint cash on your hobby. Confess and repay half?

Option 1) She'll be pissed for a bit, and then get over it.
Option 2) She'll just agree that you've earnt it, and be relaxed about the purchase (but also make you know that you probably should have mentioned it before splurging the cash)
Option 3) She's been looking forward to move on from this dead-end relationship and this is the catalyst

Good luck!

I'd suggest at this stage popping your hand down into your pants and counting them. If your asking in here it's either a jokey thread, a troll or you have some bigger relationship issues.

Why have you not pedalled in 13 years? Weirdo! Unless it was because of injury or illness in which case you're not weird.

To make up to her, this weekend build a new shoe cupboard.

Because there's going to be a whole load of new shoes in the next week or so.

Better up the limit on your card too.

Biggest regret of my life giving up riding

Just kinda lost interest in my teens when I kept going out to the pub. Big mistake.

Got friends that still ride. So I have no excuses

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission

IMHO its [ depending on which of your stories is true] its not reasonable to spend joint money , on yourself, without a discussion.

I have no idea what the question is.

You may need the bike to escape the wrath.

Why do people keep saying pissed meaning annoyed?

We're British

Pissed off is the phrase you're looking for

you know the golden rule

er, no?

Either I got lucky with a 'rule-breaker' or you might be projecting yr experience onto all relationships. worth a thought...

If it was from a joint account then ask for forgiveness. If it was your personal savings and a credit card you are reaponsible for why do you even need to tell her what it cost? If it's that much of an issue she'd split with you for it I'd venture you are better off single. Unless of course you've gone and spent money you really can't afford and it impacts your ability to cover household expenses.

There I was thinking we were about to welcome another singlespeeder to the fold.

Will you be seeking permission/forgiveness from all the other people who have no say in what you spend your money on too?

If not bothered in the slightest, hope she doesn't know your STW account name, as this thread might change all that.

Come on what you bought?

Obviously, she is having an affair!

Don't pass up this golden opportunity. Buy yourself another bike real quick! 😮

I recommend a fatbike. 😀
