As it Say's on the tin really,
After a long board skateboard so I can keep up with my daughter when she's on her scooter ............. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it 😉
Cheers in advance

Anything by flexdex is good. Got a couple gathering dust in the shed.
Don't underestimate the potential to really hurt yourself, Tarmac is very unforgiving...
Lush Longboards.
i have a animal one.
would sell it for £50 collected or £55 posted.
cant seem to find any pics on the net. bought it brand new for £120 a year ago and used it 3 times!
Had a lovely Hobie twin kicktail with OJ's and Gulwings, but my mum binned it 😥
Lush, Original Skateboards, Landyachtz, Sector 9, G&S, Arbor, Supaflex (if you can find one) and Loaded all make very nice boards indeed. Check out the Lush Forum for some useful info and the occasional bargain on the classified section.
Some places sell very cheap ones (around the £50 mark). Probably best to avoid these as they are pretty terrible. I had one years ago and the deck warped very quickly.
There are lots of different boards available depending on what you want. Some are mega flexy (Loaded make varying flex boards) and others are very rigid (race and slide setups tend to have no flex at all). Drop-thru decks are worth a look if you want stability in your ride as they sit lower than most other decks. The Lush Samba works similar to a drop-thru deck by lowering the riding platform a little to give a touch more stability. I used to ride a Lush Kilima Bamboo drop-thru which gave stability and a nice bit of flex...really regret selling it.
This is a great inspirational vid:
Its a great thing to get into. I spent a few summers just riding the roads around where I live, some had just been resurfaced with fresh tarmac so were really smooth and ride.
I have never skateboarded. Is this (relatively) easy to learn?
[the kids must absolutely hate it when dads get into their games; no wonder they do drugs]
Loaded Dervish = farking awesome
All Loaded boards are good
I've a few, got some Lush stuff from when they were handmade in Sheffield which are really nice. A carbon composite Roe Racing slalom set up which is just about the nicest thing I've ever ridden.
The ones I'd never sell are the collection of signed Pocket Pistols boards 😀
@Buzz, not that hard to learn. I didn't pick a board up until I was 30.
Loaded Dervish +1
jeez, thats like asking what bike!
without going into a really longwinded answer i would honestly say go for a better basic complete, not rubbish from argos, see if you like it and if you do you will learn more and make a better buy next time around. you will also know then whether you want a board for, they can both be long but a downhill board is a world away from a park board for instance.
the only thing i would really say to look for are a board with randal or randal'esque trucks. on a long deck they make a huge difference. that and 70mm 78a wheels minimum. big and soft.
but in saying that possibly go ebay for a cheaper deck to get you going, anything 36 - 46", but do get some randal 180 or holey trucks, and again some big soft wheels (abec11 are very good), then you can get a better deck later.
and then you've got smaller slalom boards that are a blast to pump around on the flat.... or maybe a 36" deck with some looser trucks and pump that.
drop mike at www.octanesport.com a line as he will give good advice and sometimes has blemish decks/boards cheaper if you ask.
feel free to email me if you want a longwinded answer.
buzz-lightyear... the basics are easy, and the basic joy of simply rolling around or carving down a buttery smooth hill can be an utter delight. the rest, the tricky stuff, takes a lifetime of repetition, repetition, wipeout, pain, repetition 'ad infinitum'. and then you also need some crazy freakish super ability mixed with an utter lack of fear and sense that sadly i ain't got. it also hurts A LOT MORE the older you get.
oldgit... truly, i feel your pain.
A carbon composite Roe Racing slalom set up
yep, agreed, i have one. check out the pavels, pretty sure octanesport.com has some. web is http://www.pavel-skates.com/cms/boards
very nice.
lush longboards +1
Are you wanting to bomb hills or just coast along the sea front?
I still have a Lush Legend 48 in the loft, along with a nice Comet vert lam/composite 44" park board and some of my own that I built.
If you are wanting to bomb hills then something with a nose and tail kick will help you out with sliding, that's where the Comet came in real nice, if you want a board just to coast on, then you only need something that will let you pump the carves and wheels and bearings that will roll and roll.
I still get mails from Lush so it's good to know they are going on. I stopped hurling myself down the tarmac a good few years ago. Shame on me.
Thanks For the Replies guys some good info there
I think i'm just looking to Cruise the streets not to much bombing however if I get the Bug you never know. Thay vid is awsome and very inspirational.
Thanks Again
