Hi all,
I'm up in Pooley Bridge next week. I rarely visit that area - have ridden there before, but only a long long time ago. I'm looking for route options. Straight out of Pooley Bridge would be best as I won't have that much time, however a short drive could be OK.

I've done a search on here and found some useful options, however to help me plan I've got a few specific questions:

So questions:
1 From Boredale Hause, which are the best descents? (Boredale, Bannerdale, or back down into Hartsop/Patterdale?

2 Is Place fell worth a cheeky over the top? And if so, which direction?

3 The Ullswater Bridleway - when you get to silver crag, best to go behind the crag or stick to the shore line?

4 Are any of the BWs/paths over to Askham/Bampton/Haweswater worth exploring?

5 Anything dropping down of High street between Hartsop / Kirkstone Inn area worth looking at?

6 Off Helvellyn, is Sticks Pass / Seldom Seen still a good descent?

thanks muchly

A lovely lowish level favourite of mine -

Pooley bridge-Askham moor-descend how town-Ullswater Bridleway-Hartsop-the Knott-Satura crags-angle tarn-Boredale hause-UBW-Howtown-road back to Pooley bridge.

A fine option if the weather dictates staying off the fells, however, even if the weather was majestic, I'd still ride that route before choosing high street.

Thanks 👍 I'd seen you recommend that on previously, looks a great route.

One question - how rocky are those trails? Just wondering whether light or burly wheels are needed...

ive done the ullswater singletrack over boredale and down to boredale head, the top bit is loose scree. Not sure what the descent to Dale head is like. The ullswater singletrack is nice though.

Trails aren't overly rocky tbh el_b, reckon you'd get away with lighter wheels.

I think UBW is good fun in both directions.

Place Fell a nice add on. I've only done the path down to Scalehow Force, not Garth Heads and only S-N from Boredale (after coming from Angle Tarn / Satura). It can get wet at the bottom though so it might be a bit wet given the rain we're having. Agree Ullswater Shore is good both ways but best at a quieter time of day.

Nice one, thanks scuttler. Looks like all the tracks down off place fell towards howtown ish get used, so seems worth an explore.
And yes, I'll be riding v early to avoid ubw crowds
