Hiya,

Just scoping out ideas at the minute for a potential trip later in the hols.

If I wanted to arrive late by car, sleep in my car, leave early by bike and not return for a night or two, is there anywhere suitable in the immediate vicinity of Pontsticill reservoir❓ if not, any tips for the next nearest suitable spots.

Many thanks.

There's an activity centre at Dol-y-Gaer, might be worth asking them if they'll take a few quid off you for a space in their car park.

Dolygaer is a good shout.

I would park in Talybont village myself.

Just over the lifting bridge in Talybont is a nice big parking spot on the right. It is opposite a load of cottages so would be as safe as anywhere around there. I would sleep up and the dam and drive back down first thing if I was you. If you cross the dam and turn first right there is an old green lane on the south shore which ends at a big turning space. I would sleep there.

Talybont would get my vote too, any of the car parks round the reservoirs are known for vehicles being broken into at night. Either have a chat with the village hall about using their car park (very friendly bike-friendly group) or leave it on the main Street by the swing bridge as the locals know everything that goes on!

Talybont, a downhill finish and your stuff will still be where you left it.
Big layby next to the empty old station/activity centre bewteen A40 and village. Overnight camping in the village hall car park is a bit frowned upon.

Don't leave overnight in any of the NP car parks - theres a good chance of a break-in. Tal-y-bont is a much better option
