So, we're off to Dolgellau for a biking weekend and I fancy a crack at Pont Scethin. Is it worth it, or will it be a boggy mess?
Also, it seems that there are many variations of the route, but the descent back into Tal-y-Bont seems to be a popular finish. A loop out from Tal-y-Bont seems to be about 10km though, and I was looking for something a bit longer.
So, suggestions?
It'll be a boggy mess, I'd avoid until spring.
That was my concern 🙁
Anything else in the area that won't be a boggy mess and worth checking out? Apart from CyB?
It may be short in distance, but there's a lot of climbing / hike-a-bike involved from Dolgellau, so don't dismiss it as being easy. Not sure as to how boggy it'll be now - I did it mid summer and it was dire then, so boggyness may be relative. A bog is a bog is a bog. Some cracking views from the top on a good day. Not hugely technical for the main, but the rock sections'll have you dropping your saddle way down.
Jealous big style wherever you end up.
Oh yes, peacan pie from the mad cafe in town is well worth it; I'm salivating now. [No idea as to the name of the cafe, but it is on the right on the one way system back to the river, just past boots.] Lemon pie is overrated but still jolly good.
I'm thinking of maybe suggesting the pony path up Cadair Idris...
