Set out for a road pootle on the trusty Pompino, but its usual steering problem showed up just as I reached the edge of town. It dragged me into the woods which were full of, wait for it, trees.

I tried to to wrestle it back towards the nice smooth tarmac, but we were barely on it when it decided to punish me with a quick 500' climb on muddy rutted tracks.

And this is where the blood comes in.

See all that nice yellow stuff? Keep away from it if you're on blood thinners. 🙂

It's windy up here (check out the sign)

There's the remains of a vitrified Iron Age fort on that hill.

Every ride should end like this - downhill. 🙂

It's hard to beat a random ride on a fine day, isn't it. 🙂

Cake? Stop anywhere or take your own?

Sadly no cake or even proximity to it.

Cake was the original thought - a circuit of the Beauly Firth and stop at Beauly's finest cake shop.

I'll have to get the steering fixed - I'll never gain weight this way. 🙂
