Mine is rather worn out. I've never been happy with the chainline, nor the ISIS BB, so I think I'm just going to replace the whole lot.

From a quick browse of CRC, there are two main issues - I have no idea how to make sure I get the right chainline (I have the 135mm spaced version), and there don't seem to be many single ring cranksets out there with a 42 (I'd like to keep my existing ratios). What are other Pompino riders using?

Current setup:
Truvativ Elita ISIS crankset, 42T ring
BMX chain
15/16T Shimano DX sprockets, occasionally 15T fixed cog w/lockring
On-One Double Fixed 135mm hub

Bump for the daytimers - there must be some commuter folk who can help with this, or have we all moved on to Roadrats now?

The chainline for that hub is 50mm, so you could go for a standard MTB chainset (chainline 47.5mm) using the outer ring position. this might put your chain a little far out though.

The alternative would be to use a track crank with a 42mm chainline but use it on a longer BB axle to get to 50mm - i.e. use a BB with 16mm longer axle.

I use a track crank on a 120mm hub so dont have direct experience Im afraid.

you need to decide what you want to keep and what to change. my advice would be to keep the hub & chainset, sort it out with BB lengths if possible.

is is a double or triple chainset you have?

120mm version running track cranks and a sugino ring here.

120mm here too I'm afraid and I always get SS specific cranks for my pompino.
White Industries cranks and ring.

Although I've used track cranks from hubjub before now quite happily.

Yes, also a 120mm pompino here.
135mm seems a right faff to get a good chainline on by the sounds of it?

FSA Gimondi track cranks, 120mm Miche primato hub here.

Im sure MTB crankset in outer ring position with a SS ring would be fine for a 135mm SS hub.

You need a 118mm BB with the Truvative Elita and a 135mm OLN. I've even had quite a long run from this current ISIS BB (that's done it). Just a cheap/mid range Race Face.

Do you need a crank or would a new ring do it?

On my 135mm version I run an old Sugino triple MTB crank with the (42T) ring on the outside. Unhelpfully, I can't remember the BB axle length, but I did end up using one of the very useful Velosolo BB spacers in there to set it properly (which could just have been avoided by using the right BB length to start with of course 🙄 ).

It's mated to a Surly flip-flop hub on the back and the chainline is fine.

... but that only really suggests that it can be done if you fiddle about, rather than being any more helpful by being specific.
