You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
so following my first excursion on a rigid singlespeed to a trail centre i just wondered what you're preferences would be? gears or suspension? i'm pretty sure after last night i would go for a pair of forks any day of the week. i was aware of muscles in my back last night that i dont think i've felt before.
Having ridden a rigid bike around kirro, dalbeattie and mabie, it would forks every time.
If it was a choice of one or the other, suspension.
Gears.
Both
Forks by a mile, rigid is v tough over the rough stuff.
Fatter tyres.
Suspension anyday.
However there maybe a retro rigid fixie being built in the workshop currently 😯
Forks. Got a rigid SS, I feel your pain 😉
APF
I have no desire to make my singlespeed rigid.. It does have some rather mediocre forks tho.
All this is making me think/realise I should put slick tyres & the big chainwheel back on the rigid 2 x 9 I have almost finished building 😆
Both.........oh and disc brakes please!
gears and suspension are for the weak............
Forks.
If good brakes are already present I would take the forks (mostly)
I ride a rigid SS and love it (mostly) but there are occasions when my arms hurt. Carbon forks and bars and foam grips help though.
Gears (already have a rigid, geared bike... Will probably never own a suspended, ungeared bike)
