Crikey that's a large crack 😆 Did you do anything to make that happen?

centred on the valve hole ?
did you drill it out to fit a SchRhayader ?

its not the spoke bed thats cracked.

centred on the valve hole ?
did you drill it out to fit a SchRhayader ?

...thus introducing a crack which has propagated....

Tyre logo valve alignment would have prevented this.

Looks like some fairly hefty corrosion.

I just yesterday put my tourer's wheels in the shower for 5 minutes to remove any winter road salt to avoid this sort of thing!

If the drilling caused this, then how do the manufacturer's do it differently for the spoke-'oles to avoid the problem?

Who knows ? Valid question though, I think - it looks like it centres on the valve hole from that pic.
(I do it myself, but interested in this)
How old's the rim, rocket ?
How much riving-about might the valve have had during use - does it have a rubber base or a metal one ?

Rim is a 12 year old Bonty 26" seen lots of action, valve hole as it came. Came with a rubber grommet to allow both types of valve to fit

Funny that. One of the 12 year old rims that came off my old Stumpjumper and is now living out it's days on my Inbred looks similar to that....not quite as bad. Been like it for about a year now; should really change the wheel!

Never seen a rim fail there. 12 years and lots of (ab)use has done it then?
Surely tyre pressure on the rim effectively pushes the side-walls apart causing/helping the fatigue along nicely.

I don't think it's a warranty claim worth pursuing.

Id suggest corrosion around the valve has weakened the area around the valve hole and eventually pressure from the tyre has torn the rim bed apart.

I would also check it's partner - had a pair of dt something or others do that , at the valve hole and directly opposite.!
rear went first. I rode on it for a few months but it wouldn't stay true... deffo corrosion rather than impact related.

I have no intention of making a claim for this!
