Not pointless at all. It is pointing north.

That would make me crash. Wouldn’t be able to help staring at it. Previous things that have caused me to crash are:

1: Watching lambs frolic.
2: Staring at my front hub (oil slick NS one).
3: Chasing a squirrel.

If you’re anything like me you’re going OTB with that 👍🏼

I have a Doggy Style bottle top. Potential for the same level of stem staring as a compass depending on thirst levels...

Does the compass actually point in the right direction? Or is it affected by all of the metal in the stem, bars, headset etc?

(Not bike related) I’m very proud of my collection of pointless tat. But this is the most pointless, and childish, thing I have.

https://flic.kr/p/2gABzbT

I know where it’s from originally, but I’m stumped as to what purpose it actually had originally. I assume it wasn’t to deploy a swift kick in the plums?

TPMS

Nope, £30 on ebay
Actually for motorbikes but I modified it as a stem cap mount and drilled out my rims for tubeless Schrader valves (which is worth doing regardless as they are miles better than Presta)

Its awesome
Low pressure alarm
USB rechargeable LIPO battery
Goes to sleep when your not moving

That is so cool. Totally unnecessary, but still awesome.

Not entirely useless - its saved my expensive rims from damage on a few occasions when I have had less air than I thought in the tyre due to a burp or thorn puncture that seals up without you noticing or just natural reduction over time. Especially useful on long gnarly descents

As a young kid my brother stuck a compass on the front wheel mudgaurd of his bike. He faild to figure out why he always seemd to be riding in the same direction. When I pointed it out he just told mum I was teasing him. So I got a hiding.

It comes with a special non magnetic stem cap bolt. I checked it out compared to my phone compass and yes, does seem accurate once settled down.

It's not really to be used when riding as it moves about too much but once stood still for a quick direction check, it's great.

I'm actually glad it's no good when moving as yes,I would stare at it as someone mentioned! Lol

Tempted to get one of those tyre gauges for the fat bike even if it's just a novelty. Also been thinking of converting everything to schrader for a while. Presta really is crap by comparison.

Just looked on ebay, there's an even cheaper £19.99 car version of that TPMS, tempted to get one for the OH as she rarely checks hers!

Yeah they are good on the Fatty's
I have 3 in total - 1 on the Fat Front Inbred. Rear tyre is at 19 PSI, front is at 5!

For my big-rig I got a friend to 3D print me a bottle cage mount. Less visible but more out of the way. She did a fantastic job!

Would those schrader tpm not work with a simple presta to schrader adapter? The ones you can buy for a few quid (if that) everywhere.
