Got a Sram GXP BB to fit but the little plastic tube that goes between the cups is missing (think the dog found a new toy!) Does it do anything except keep out crud from inside your frame? Really don't want to fork out for another BB if i can use it without the tube.

If replacing like-for-like use the old one, otherwise LBS might have some kicking around?
