Looking at a new pair of pads as my ones keep sliding down when I stack and don't do their job. Thursday was the last straw with my current pads when I whacked my knee on the stem when the front wheel washed out.
I like the look of these and reviews are good http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/poc-joint-vpd-air-knee-2018/rp-prod157100?gs=1&sku=sku574589&pgrid=48059574610&ptaid=pla-424796311096&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=PLA+All+Products&utm_medium=base&utm_content=mkwid|sP7NDKOUL_dc|pcrid|254141219463|pkw||pmt||prd|574589UK
however it doesn't look like there is much extension above the knee for the pad to grip. I'm thinking they might have the same issue of sliding down on impact and exposing my knee. Anyone got these pads? Do they stay put on impact?
These are my main go to pads for trail riding, they have been tested numerous times and done their job without moving. Though I don't recall having a big sliding type off. They stay in place well on my legs, never need to pull up or adjust during a day ride, unlike any other pads I own. The only drawback I have found with lack of extension above knee is you need long shorts to avoid @#&* gap. As always with pads it comes down to fit. Your legs may vary.
Yes, they have grippy stuff in the inside and an adjustable strap so they start in place pretty well in my experience. The padding isn't the most flexible but they are well enough articulated to wear all day. I'd echo the comments about the length above the knee though.
I have a pair of these and would get again. The internal grip works well, if I catch the pad on something it pulls on my leg hairs!. I have not have a massive crash in them, but have slid down a bank and the pad stayed put enough to keep protecting my knee.
Good pad let down by the fact there isn't enough of it above the padding, so it sits really low on the thigh.
Thus creating a massive enduro faux pas by introducing the horror of the '**** gap', unless you have some longer than average shorts.
Mine are great. Love POC gear.
Like mine.
I had some IXS Flows which were great but had to be retired due to the unbelievable stench that couldn’t be washed out so I bought some POC’s. At first I wondered what I’d done because they didn’t feel too comfy when I tried them on but they’re actually good to ride in. They’ve been tested a couple of times and have stayed put.

Or like me have shorter than average legs 🙂
I’ve got a broken wrist, several holes in my arms, bruises on my thighs and stomach.... and my POC Vpd Air padded knees are uninjired despite plenty of evidence of crashing last week on their fronts. Great pads.
I've had mine just over a year, so they've done 100+ rides. Still in tip top condition, in spite of several minor prangs. Don't think I've ever had an issues with slippage.
^^^^ have you washed them much in that period, and if so how ?
I wash mine every few rides. 30 or 40 degree wash, no special treatment. Just goes in with the other stuff
Thanks all. Some positive feedback there. Should have asked about the sizing. Are they true to size chart? For me the charts say I'm a large. 47cm thigh and 38cm calf .
Trying to decide between these and Trail Skin 2's
Cheers

They go in the wash every week or so, when they get either dirty, sweaty or smelly. They just ger thrown in the wash with my riding gear at 40 degrees.
Yeah they ride low but are stable. Pedalling in them for extended periods they wear the hell out of my skin behind my knees though.
I thought my skin would toughen up, but it hasn't.
