I'll be in for everything but Kirroughtree which unfortunately falls on the same weekend as both Camper Jam and AC/DC in London. Off to Camper Jam instead and seeing AC/DC in Glasgow 😀

Abigale is in the Female for rounds 2,3,4,and 6. Wont let me register for 5, says not available. she is disappointed that she cant do the first one but studies come first.

With a bit of luck should have the camper by then.

Will give that a miss. I need an operation on my foot and want to get it all sorted and me back on the bike before our Alps trip, if they cant do that then will need to get it done when we get back. Either way I will be off the bike for three months.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

If last year was anything to go by, the ones that I think sold out, only sold out in the run up to them which is why I'm going to leave it a while before entering the Lee Quarry/Cock Hill round, stage 5 and maybe Gisburn part deux.

And no, they're not cheap but that seems to be fairly good in terms of a days racing these days. Add in the fact that the tracks last year in the two rounds I did were really top notch, support, the fact you don't need to lug a full facer around or pay £100 p/a for insurance and its not too bad...

I'm in for round 1! First go at this kind of thing for me. If I enjoy it I might see if I can get onto some of the later ones as well.

Looking forward to it!

What do they use at Grizedale for the descents? ie bridleways or the NF trail?.

Last year stage 1 was the first climb on the NFT in reverse. A real knackering stage! I've always ridden up that thinking "this would be ace in reverse". It kinda was but it took some effort!

Stage 2 was a little off-piste bit and then into the NFT from Moor Top until the log ride bit in the trees.

Stage 3 was ace. Right from the top of Carron Crag (?) down a super steep off-piste bit into the downhill track, a short fire-road bit and then more off-piste to pick up the NFT back to the vistor centre.

Whatever it is, it won't be bridleways.

Hovering over the March Gisburn one.

Is it practice and race in the same day, or is it held over a weekend?

Can all loners unite under some sort of STW collective?

Stages are marked on the Saturday, but open to the public, official closed course practice Sunday morning, race in the afternoon

Glad to see such great comments 🙂

round 1 is 90% sold out in the first 9 hours, so be quick if you want to enter, round 2 I'm guessing will be full be this time tomorrow.

couldn't see a specific question that nobody else had answered but if there are ask away here or if you need a quicker answer on Facebook

It is cheap compared to other Enduro's but we still have EWS style transponder timing, great stages and a emphasis on fun. All relaxed on the day, transitions are not timed just the stages, Ride round the lap with your mates.

STW group - will post something up nearer the time and meet in the car park beforehand and we'll just shove our names down to go around in the same group / split into two groups adjacent to each other 😀

I'm sure Abigale wont be destroying anybody, she would love to get to know other entrants for a bit of banter.

She should be riding her Enduro so if you see her please have a chat

Tell her to look out for me. Dont know what bike I'll be riding at the moment (shopping mission currently); but very likely to involve a white helmet, 661 blue knee pads and purple shorts. I am very friendly and its my first enduro so a bit scared! As I'll be 30 by then, I'd be in a somewhat older womens cat if they did divide them up!

Everyone welcome. I think they set people off in groups of 8ish last time so we could split across 2 groups. Once you're out the start line its easy to ride together...

Looking forward to it!

Oi! Less of that! I'm already distraught I have to enter into the Masters category, nevermind being told I'm 'Somewhat older'!

just entered round 2. i messed up last night and lost the chance to get in round 1; possibly for the best as i need to work hard on my fitness! and I'm trying to decide whether to do it on my el guapo or splash out and get myself a transition scout by then...

I assumed we were walking the transitions 😯 ?!

Also, are people camping / staying over, just going on the Sunday or commuting both days?

We are hoping that our camper has been delivered in time so we can use it. If not we will try and find overnight accommodation nearby.

format notes :

8am, sign and and pick a start time with your mates. groups of 10 every 5 minutes.

Go for a practice lap and ride all stages once

Lunch and discuss tactics and lines on stages

Afternoon - at your time your group sets off.

Race stage 1 when you get there, 20-30 sec gaps between riders, transponder timing, no dibbing.

Regroup with mates and ride to stage 2 wheeling out your best excuses on why you didnt catch your mate in front ...

Repeat for other stages

Get back, hand in your transponder - get your instant printout of times.

Compare with mates, re-tell the excuses.

stay for presentation, hope you get a spot prize. Details to be confirmed but you could be 13th, 42nd or 99th and get a spot prize 🙂 So doesnt really matter where you finish 🙂

any questions just ask.

Thanks Kev, that's a really helpful. Probably convinced me just to come up on a Sunday.

One question, what's "dibbing"?

"Dibbing"

Many enduro's, including ours last year used dibber timing on the stages. At the start you place your electronic card on a box to "dib" it beeps and you set off, then at the finish to place the timing card on the finish box to get a finish time. Repeat at all stages.

We now have transponder timing, you roll past the start box, and fly past the finish box.
